Democrats calling for the resignation of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth got more fodder for their demands when a major media outlet dropped a story that he brought his wife to “sensitive” meetings, adding fuel to the “Signalgate” fire.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Jennifer Hegseth attended a March 6 “high level meeting” with her husband and U.K. Secretary of Defense John Healey, a day after the U.S. said it would suspend sharing intelligence with Ukraine in NATO’s proxy war on Russia. According to the outlet, Mrs. Hegseth also attended a NATO meeting during a trip to Brussels in February, “where allied defense officials discussed their support for Ukraine, according to two people who attended the meeting.”

The Defense Department said that Philip Hegseth, the secretary’s brother, who works at the Department of Homeland Security, has also been traveling with Hegseth.
“A secretary can invite anyone to meetings with visiting counterparts, but attendee lists are usually carefully limited to those who need to be there and attendees are typically expected to possess security clearances given the delicate nature of the discussions, according to defense officials and people familiar with the meeting. There is often security near the meeting space to keep away uninvited attendees,” the WSJ reported.
“Hegseth’s wife, Jennifer Hegseth, isn’t a Defense Department employee, defense officials said. It isn‘t uncommon for spouses of senior officials to possess low-level security clearances, but a Pentagon spokesperson declined to say whether Jennifer has one. Jennifer didn’t respond to requests for comment,” according to the outlet.
The WSJ “bombshell” relies on the usual anonymous sources, if they even exist.
But the story is riddled with “inaccuracies” and written in bad faith, according to the Pentagon’s top spokesman.
In his response to the paper’s request for comment on its hit piece, Defense Department spox Sean Parnell told the WSJ that it’s “pretty clear to me that your story is going to be filled with inaccuracies and will not be written in good faith.”
Parnell also shot down another report about Hegseth’s brother as “fake news” and “garbage clickbait.”
This is Fake News & garbage clickbait.
Phil Hegseth is a Senior Advisor to Secretary Noem at DHS & liaises with us at DOD from time to time.

Some might suggest that the smear campaign against Hegseth has all the looks of one of many other Trump-era “scandals,” with the most notable being the Russiagate hoax, which insinuated that President Trump was a deep cover Kremlin operative, a ridiculous assertion that has been thoroughly debunked.
“Waltz invites Jeffrey Goldberg to join a highly sensitive text chain, Hegseth invites his wife to sit in on highly sensitive meetings. It’s just a friendly, welcoming, inclusive administration,” arch neocon propagandist Bill Kristol wrote in a post to X after the WSJ story broke.
This one has the looks of an orchestrated push to force Hegseth out at the Pentagon where he has undertaken sweeping reforms, not the least of which is ending the “woke” indoctrination policies put into place by his predecessor Lloyd Austin, the black Raytheon board member tapped by disgraced former President Joe Biden to run the military.
Hegseth has also emphasized the return of the armed forces to their primary mission of fighting wars and is threatening the livelihoods of all of those who have profited obscenely from endless foreign wars, the most recent of which is the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which Trump is seeking to end.
For all the hue and cry about Hegseth and the Signal national security meeting that was penetrated by a notorious Trump-hating fabulist, there have been no similar hit pieces and demands for the resignation of National Security Adviser Mike Waltz who is alleged to be the one who allowed Jeffrey Goldberg into the chat about the strike on the terrorist Houthis.
Trump has made it clear that he is standing by Hegseth as Democrats gnash their teeth.
