‘Woke’ professor placed on leave for acting like a violent, unhinged psychopath

A “woke” University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire professor has been placed on leave for acting like a violent, unhinged psychopath.

According to Tatiana Bobrowicz, the chair of the school’s College Republicans, she’d set up a table on campus early Tuesday morning in support of Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate Brad Schimel when she was suddenly approached by a strange man.

The man, later identified as José Felipe Alvergue, the chair of the school’s English Department, asked why she had set up the table so close to the school’s student center where student voting was occurring.

“Wisconsin law does not allow electioneering — defined as any activity intended to influence voting at an election — within 100 feet of an entrance of a building where voting is taking place,” as noted by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Bobrowicz told the Sentinel that she responded by explaining that the College Republicans had always tabled in that spot and that the school had approved it. That’s when Alvergue snapped.

“[He] told her ‘the time for this is over,’ flipped the table over and walked away,” the Sentinel notes. “She immediately called police and filed a report.”

Behold the aftermath below:

Bobrowicz was taken aback but not shocked by what happened. She noted to the Sentinel that when others on campus learned of the incident, many commented that the group “had it coming” and deserved it because of “how hateful” their right-wing views allegedly are.

“It’s scary to see how much hatred there is toward us,” she said, adding that Alvergue’s behavior was of course the worst part of it all.

“This takes it to a whole new level,” she said. “Not just a professor, but a chair of a department. He’s supposed to set an example for students and here he is setting an example of violence.”

The good news is that the school is taking the act of violence seriously.

“I am deeply concerned that our students’ peaceful effort to share information on campus on election day was disrupted,” university interim provost Michael Carney told Fox News in a statement.

“UW-Eau Claire strongly supports every person’s right to free speech and free expression, and the university remains committed to ensuring that campus is a place where a wide variety of opinions and beliefs can be shared and celebrated. Civil dialogue is a critical part of the university experience, and peaceful engagement is fundamental to learning itself,” he added.

Carney also revealed that the school has placed Alvergue on administrative leave and launched an investigation.

According to school choice activist Corey A. DeAngelis, Alvergue is a full-fledged leftist nutjob who believes in divisive, anti-American ideologues like critical race theory (CRT).

Alvergue has also been placed on leave from the board of the Pablo Center at the Confluence, which he’d chaired, as the university conducts its investigation.

“In light of the recent announcement from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire regarding an ongoing investigation of Professor José Felipe Alvergue, who also serves as Chair of the Pablo Confluence Board, we are taking appropriate and measured steps in response,” the board said in a statement to local station WEAU.

“We take this situation seriously and remain committed to upholding our organization’s values of integrity, accountability, and respectful dialogue. While this is a personnel matter tied to an external investigation, we believe it is important to allow that process to proceed without interference or speculation,” they added.

In a statement of their own, the Republican Party of Eau Claire County said that the professor “should be required to apologize to the College Republicans and then be fired from the University of Eau Claire.”
