‘What changed?’ Dems SCORCHED with video of all the times they condemned gov’t shutdowns

House Speaker Mike Johnson called out Democrats for rank hypocrisy over a looming government shutdown.

“Democrats have railed against government shutdowns,” Johnson stated on X along with video of top Dems doing exactly that.

“But now they’re supporting one,” Johnson continued. “What’s changed? They’re willing to do ANYTHING to stop President Trump from implementing his agenda.”

“We believe in governance. We want to keep government open. A shutdown is very serious,” Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says in the video clip.

“It is not normal to hold 800,000 workers’ paychecks hostage. It is not normal to shut down the government when we don’t get what we want,” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, says in another clip.

The latest battle over keeping the government running comes after House Republicans released a bill over the weekend that would freeze Fiscal Year 2024 levels through September. The continuing resolution would keep the government open but would not increase spending levels, which has been the status quo.

Democrats have railed against the bill, citing concerns over Trump’s authority over spending.

“The partisan House Republican funding bill recklessly cuts healthcare, nutritional assistance, and $23 billion in veterans benefits,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said in a joint statement with other Democrat leaders. “Equally troublesome, the legislation does nothing to protect Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid, while exposing the American people to further pain throughout this fiscal year.

“We are voting No.”

House Republicans argue that $6 billion was allocated in the new bill for veteran healthcare, and have pushed back on claims it would affect Medicare and Medicaid.

Johnson reiterated his frustration with Democrats in a statement to Fox News Digital.

“Democrats have railed against government shutdowns. But now they’re supporting one,” Johnson told Fox News Digital in a written statement. “They’re willing to do anything to stop President Trump from implementing his agenda.”

President Trump also blasted Democrats who he said “want” a government shutdown. “Could be. Democrats want that. They want to destroy the country…It probably won’t. I think the CR is going to get passed.”
