Mike Benz has accused USAID of funneling millions of taxpayer dollars to George Soros’ Open Society Foundation Macedonia, which he says was then used to destabilize the country’s democratically elected center-right government.
Speaking on a recent broadcast, Benz laid out claims that the U.S. government, under the Obama administration, directly financed efforts to undermine Macedonia’s leadership by distributing funds to key institutions and political figures within the country.
According to Benz, the U.S. government allocated $5 million in taxpayer funds to the Open Society Foundation Macedonia through USAID.

He emphasized that this was not an indirect transaction but a direct grant with the backing of the Obama administration’s U.S. Ambassador to Macedonia.
“USAID gave $5 million to Open Society Foundation Macedonia, $5 million a direct grantee, with the help of then-President Barack Obama’s U.S. Ambassador to Macedonia,” Benz stated.
“The U.S. government spent millions of taxpayer dollars to destabilize the democratically elected center-right government by colluding with Soros.”
Benz described the funding process as a coordinated effort between USAID and Soros-backed organizations, claiming that money was funneled into multiple sectors of Macedonian society to exert influence and create political unrest.

“So USAID is actually funding Soros, and Soros is passing those funds to the people on the ground—the local politicians, the local judges, the local prosecutors, the local anti-corruption NGOs, the local media outlets, the local trade labors, labor groups, and unions,” Benz explained.
One of the most striking allegations Benz made was that USAID funds were used to help translate Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” into Macedonian—a book widely regarded as a leftist activist guide on political disruption and grassroots organizing.
“One NGO, funded by the USAID-Soros Alliance, paid for the translation into Macedonian of Saul Alinsky’s ‘Rules for Radicals,’” Benz revealed.
“So USAID paid to have Saul Alinsky street protest handbooks printed. How funny is that?”

Alinsky’s book has long been associated with left-wing organizing tactics and has been used as a strategic playbook for protests and political agitation.
Benz’s statement suggests that USAID-backed groups were actively preparing local activists and political operatives in Macedonia with literature designed to fuel demonstrations against the elected government.
The revelations from Benz contribute to ongoing concerns about U.S. foreign aid being used for political manipulation rather than humanitarian or developmental efforts.
The idea that taxpayer money was allegedly used to fund Soros-linked organizations in a foreign country, with the goal of undermining a democratic government, raises serious questions about the role of U.S. agencies like USAID in global politics.
Benz’s claims further highlight long-standing criticisms from conservatives who argue that Soros-backed organizations push leftist policies under the guise of “democracy-building” while actively working to weaken right-leaning governments worldwide.
With USAID’s role in Macedonia now under scrutiny, these latest allegations may fuel further demands for greater oversight and accountability when it comes to U.S. foreign aid spending.
