The football program of Stanford University — head coach Troy Taylor to be more specific — was reportedly the centerpiece of two different investigations that focused on Taylor allegedly bullying and belittling female staffers that worked for the school’s athletic department.
According to a report from ESPN citing obtained documents, Taylor was the center of two separate investigations that were carried out by law firms outside of Stanford. (RELATED: Nick Saban Piles Up Several FCC Complaints For Dropping Swear Words On ESPN: REPORT)
The firms looked into the allegations that Taylor made comments that were “inappropriate” and about the appearance of a female, per the outlet. It’s also claimed that Taylor attempted to get a compliance officer fired after they issued a warning about him being in violation of several NCAA rules.
Per ESPN, Taylor was forced to sign a letter of warning in Feb. 2024 after the first investigation. The document stated that if Taylor didn’t switch up his behavior, he could potentially be fired from Stanford.

The first investigation was launched following “multiple employees” filing complaints with Stanford alleging that they were on the receiving end of hostile and aggressive conduct from Taylor, as well as personal jabs. Per ESPN, the investigation began in Spring 2023.
The second investigation was started in Summer 2024 by another firm. ESPN identifies the law firm as Libby, O’Brien, Kingsley & Chapman, with their senior counsel Timothy O’Brien leading the way for the investigation. The firm is headquartered in Maine.
