A Trump supporter whose wife was arrested by immigration authorities after their recent honeymoon doesn’t regret his 2024 election vote.
“I don’t regret the vote,” Wisconsin resident Bradley Bartell bluntly told Newsweek this week.
While returning to Wisconsin after honeymooning in Puerto Rico last month, Bartell and his wife, Camila Muñoz, were pulled aside by immigration officials.
“Are you an American citizen?” the officials asked Muñoz.
She admitted that she wasn’t, but she stressed that she and Bartell, her husband, had already begun taking the proper legal steps by applying for a green card so that she could become a citizen one day.
But it didn’t matter because Muñoz had overstayed her visa.

“In 2019, Muñoz arrived in Wisconsin Dells on a work-study visa, which expired around the time COVID-19 began and international travel came to a standstill,” according to Newsweek. “While working in farming and hospitality, she met Bartell, who gave her his number on a scrap of paper—though she initially threw it away.”
“A few days later, they reconnected on Facebook and soon developed a serious relationship. The couple eventually married, but a honeymoon wasn’t possible because of the pandemic,” the reporting continues.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made it clear during a January press briefing that visa overstayers won’t be tolerated.
“If an individual is overstaying their visa, they are, therefore, an illegal immigrant residing in this country, and they are subject to deportation,” she said.
And so Muñoz was taken away and is now being held in a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Louisiana.
“It’s all been a nightmare really, taking things as they come and moving forward,” Bartell told Newsweek. “We have an attorney. The system for getting people through seems to be very inefficient, so it is taking longer than it should.”
“ICE never really has any information, it seems. The system needs to be revamped for better processes and communication between departments,” he added.
These are fair criticisms of ICE.
What’s not fair are the hateful messages he’s received from the deranged hate movement that is the American left.
“I’ve received a lot of hateful messages, plenty of people saying we deserve this, and a lot of other insults,” he told Newsweek.
And indeed, social media is full of leftists celebrating his wife’s detainment:

As for his future, it all depends on what happens to his wife. If she is indeed deported to Peru, he may have no other option but to relocate there.
“It has crossed my mind to move to Peru if she gets deported, but it would be very difficult for my son,” he said.
Regarding President Donald Trump, he said only that he hopes what happened reaches his eyes/ears and inspires him to “improve” America’s immigration system.
This isn’t the first case of a Trump supporter coming face to face with immigration authorities.
Earlier this month, a Trump supporter named Jensy Machado was briefly detained by ICE officials despite being a naturalized citizen.
Machado was reportedly on his way to work in Manassas, Virginia, when he stumbled on a large-scale ICE operation.
“They just got out of the car with the guns in their hands and say: ‘Turn off the car, give me the keys, open the window,’ you know,” he later recalled to the media. “Everything was really fast.”
“I voted for Trump last election, but, because I thought it was going to be the things, you know, like … just go against criminals, not every Hispanic looking, like, that they will assume that we are all illegals,” he added.
Unlike Bartell, who understands that mistakes happen, Machado now questions his vote for Trump.
“They will assume that we are all illegals,” he claimed. “They’re just following Hispanic people.”
