President Donald Trump recently offered his definition of what constitutes a woman, emphasizing the importance of distinguishing between women and men in the context of ongoing political and social debates.
His comments came during a press conference on Friday, following the swearing-in of White House counselor Alina Habba, who will serve as the interim U.S. attorney for New Jersey.
The president’s remarks came in response to a reporter’s question about the significance of understanding the difference between women and men, particularly in the wake of debates over transgender athletes competing in women’s sports.

Trump did not hesitate in his response, offering a straightforward and clear answer to the question that has confounded many in recent years.
“Well, it’s very easy to answer for me because a woman is somebody that can have a baby under certain circumstances, she has equality, a woman is a person who is much smarter than a man I’ve always found, a woman is a person that doesn’t give a man even a chance at success,” Trump stated.
“And a woman who’s a person who in many cases has been treated very badly because I think that what happens with this crazy, this crazy issue of men being able to play in women’s sports is just ridiculous and very unfair to women and very demeaning to women.”
Trump’s response came at a time when the issue of transgender athletes competing in women’s sports has become a central point of contention in U.S. politics.

The president’s criticism focused on what he described as “unfair” and “demeaning” policies allowing transgender men to compete in women’s sports.
He also mentioned the growing public sentiment against these policies, referring to a recent poll he read, which showed that 94% of people oppose men competing in women’s sports.
“I watched the other day, I watched a congressman, a Democrat congressman fighting for the fact that men should be allowed to compete essentially in women’s sports and I said ‘I hope they keep that going because they’ll never win another election.’ That’s a big deal,” Trump continued, referencing a debate among Democratic lawmakers on the issue.
“But women are basically incredible people, they do so much for our country and we love our women and we’re gonna take care of our women.”
Trump’s comments also touched on the broader cultural debate about gender identity, noting that the concept of a woman should be clear and not subject to confusing or politically motivated redefinitions.
His remarks reflect a broader criticism of Democratic politicians who, according to Trump, are out of touch with the majority of Americans on this issue.
In a related development, Senate Democrats recently voted along party lines to block a piece of legislation that would have codified Trump’s executive order preventing men from competing in women’s sports.
The bill, which had strong support among Republicans, aimed to ensure that women’s sports remain fair and competitive by excluding transgender men from women’s athletic events.
One of the most vocal opponents of the legislation was Democrat Sen. Jon Ossoff of Georgia, who received significant backlash for voting against the bill.
Ossoff’s vote came under particular scrutiny due to his state’s overwhelming support for banning men from competing in women’s sports.
Critics argue that his vote against the measure reflects the growing divide between Democratic lawmakers and the values of their constituents.
The debate over transgender athletes in women’s sports is expected to continue to play a prominent role in U.S. politics, particularly as more states and lawmakers seek to address the issue through legislation.
For Trump, the issue remains a clear point of differentiation between his position and that of many Democratic leaders, who continue to advocate for policies that allow transgender individuals to compete in sports based on their gender identity.
As this issue unfolds, Trump’s statements suggest that he remains firmly opposed to allowing men to compete in women’s sports, positioning it as a key element of his broader agenda to protect women’s rights and ensure fairness in competitive arenas.
