Tren de Aragua gang member arrested for shooting 3 Chicago women in the head, killing 2

U.S. Marshals have arrested a Tren de Aragua gang member accused of double murder and kidnapping in Chicago.

Ricardo Gonzales, 32, was arrested in Cobby County, Georgia on Thursday as per an arrest warrant from the Chicago Police Department.

He’s reportedly a high-ranking Tren de Aragua gang member who kidnapped three women in Chicago on Jan 28th, took them to an alley, and then shot them in the head, killing two of them.

“The surviving victim escaped after being shot in the face and chest, and doorbell video showed her going door to door for help,” according to Chicago news station WLS.

One resident, Elaine McKinney, opened the door for her.

“I couldn’t imagine who would do that to a person, and I didn’t know why they would do that to her,” McKinney told WLS. “I didn’t know what she did, or what. It was just horrible. It was a horrible morning. I’ll never forget it.”

“She was bleeding everywhere and she kept saying, ‘Police! Police,’” McKinney’s sister, Yvette, told Atlanta station WANF.  “She couldn’t speak English. Just, ‘Police! Police!’”

Gonzales was arrested on Thursday for kidnapping, first-degree murder, and attempted first-degree murder.

“This defendant’s crimes against American women are horrific, and he is exactly the type of Alien Enemy the Trump administration is fighting to remove from this country in order to make America safe again,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a statement.

“This case is a reflection of the tireless work the U.S. Marshal Service and partnering agencies put in to make sure justice has its day in court,” acting U.S. Marshals Service Director Mark Pittell added. “Every arrest contributes to safer communities and demonstrates our unwavering commitment to protecting the public.”

Gonzales’ arrest was the result of a joint effort between the Chicago police and several federal agencies, including the U.S. Marshal Service Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF).

“It’s no surprise a member of a trans-national gang would be harboring here in Cobb County,” criminal street gang expert JP Miller told WANF. “Tren de Aragua has been operating here in Georgia, with various different crimes, all the way from murder, sexual assaults, and other violent crime.”

Tren de Aragua has, in fact, been operating all across the nation, prompting a crackdown from the Trump administration.

Indeed, just this Friday the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the arrest of 68 Tren de Aragua members in less than a week.

“I’m proud to say, in the past 48 hours, ICE, along with our local partners and our other fellow federal agencies, have arrested more than 68 gang members, terrorists in the United States,” acting ICE Director Todd Lyons said.

“To date, we’ve arrested 394 of these terrorists. Our goal is to eradicate TdA from U.S. soil. We will not tolerate their illegal presence or the threat they pose to the American public,” he continued.

Listen:

“Tren de Aragua is a dangerous foreign terrorist organization that has invaded our soil,” Lyons added. “TdA has infiltrated the U.S., its northern border, the southern border and in our waterways.”

“Many of these members are cold-blooded killers, rapists, thieves, drug traffickers, weapons traffickers and human traffickers. They’re accused of the most heinous crimes committed inside our neighborhoods and communities. They have been running loose in the United States,” he concluded.

The 68 were specifically arrested under the Alien Enemies Act.
