Chaotic scenes erupted at the New York State Capitol in Albany on Wednesday as pro-illegal immigration activists and Democratic lawmakers attempted to confront former ICE Director and Trump’s current Border Czar, Tom Homan over his immigration enforcement efforts.
Despite the uproar, Homan remained unfazed, appearing in video footage casually eating an apple as he walked past the shouting demonstrators.
The protest, organized by pro-migrant activists, erupted as Homan entered the Capitol alongside Republican lawmakers and state police troopers.

“No hate, no fear, immigrants are welcome here,” the crowd chanted as he approached.
Homan responded with a wry smile, taking a bite of his apple as he passed the demonstrators, who grew louder and more animated.

Among those protesting was New York Assembly member Jessica González-Rojas, who held a sign reading “juntos somos más,” which translates to “together we are more.”
Other protesters carried signs that read “seeking refuge is a human right.”
Video footage also captured Assembly member and New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani attempting to push past state troopers while shouting at Homan.
Mamdani demanded answers regarding Trump’s immigration policies and the recent arrest of Columbia University student and anti-Israel activist Mahmoud Khalil.
“How many more New Yorkers will you detain? How many more New Yorkers without charge?” Mamdani shouted. “Do you believe in the First Amendment, Tom Homan?”

Khalil was arrested by ICE agents on Saturday at his university-owned apartment on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.
Federal officials informed him they were revoking his green card and student visa, according to his attorneys.
His detention has sparked protests from left-wing activists and Democratic lawmakers who oppose Trump’s immigration enforcement measures.
Homan was in Albany to push for greater cooperation between local and state law enforcement agencies and ICE.
New York law restricts local police from honoring ICE detainers or holding illegal immigrants solely based on their immigration status.
Additionally, the state’s “Green Light Law” permits illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses.
Speaking to lawmakers and law enforcement officials, Homan made it clear that sanctuary policies would not deter the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.
“This is an attack on immigration enforcement, that’s plain what it is,” Homan stated.
“You’re not going to stop us, New York state, you’ve got to change the sanctuary status. If you don’t, get out of the way, we’re going to do our job,” he continued.
“We’ll double the man-force if we have to. Rather than one officer arresting a bad guy, now I have to send a whole team.”
Despite the protests, Homan remained steadfast in his message, emphasizing that federal immigration enforcement would continue in New York regardless of state policies designed to hinder ICE operations.
