Tim Burchett dishes on REAL reason both parties are opposing Elon Musk, DOGE

U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett appeared to pull back the curtain on why members of Congress from both parties are opposing Elon Musk and his work with the Department of Government Efficiency.

The Tennessee Republican who serves on the House DOGE subcommittee spoke with reporters after meeting with Musk, saying the progress is “encouraging” but “they haven’t even cracked the nut” in uncovering years of government waste and fraud.

When asked if there was any “push back” to DOGE’s efforts, the lawmaker gave an eyebrow-raising response.

“They’re gonna push back because you’ve got Congressmen on both sides of the aisle. If they follow that paper trail, it’s going to come back to them. You’ve got their wife and or girlfriend that works for some agency, quasi-agency or some business,” Burchett said.

“I’ll get primaried for saying that but that’s the truth and we all know it,” the lawmaker noted.

“This town’s as crooked as a dog’s leg,” he quipped. “Somebody’s gonna straighten it out, it looks like it’s gonna be Elon Musk.”

He revealed that he encouraged Musk to “go as fast as possible” before lawmakers complain that the cuts are directly affecting them. Burchett poked his GOP colleagues for lacking the “guts” to see through an effort to make the DOGE cuts permanent.

Last month, Burchett told NewsNation that DOGE has “uncovered a whole lot more” than just wasteful spending.

“You’ve got to wonder, some of this money if it’s not flowing right back into the pockets of some politicians in Washington,” he said.
