Less than three months under the new administration and President Donald Trump had already outpaced his predecessor on transparency with one staggering cabinet metric.

Whether referring to the lack of visitor logs to his home, the constant cold shoulder to corporate media, or the coverup of his cognitive decline, then-President Joe Biden’s White House residency brought anything but the transparency he’d promised. Now, as Trump established a routine of accountability from his cabinet, the GOP leader already surpassed the number of questions fielded from the press by “nearly 20 times” during such meetings.
As Friday’s White House press briefing kicked off, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt referred to a report from The Washington Times as she expressed, “As I’ve said before, and I will say it again today, everybody in this room has access to the most transparent and accessible president in American history. The cabinet meeting yesterday was further proof.”
“President Trump answered nearly 100 questions from the press, all of you, during his first three open press cabinet meetings this year. That’s nearly 20 times the number answered by Joe Biden in cabinet meetings during his entire four years in office,” she detailed.
After less than 100 days in office, Trump had held three cabinet meetings whereas Biden had only held nine throughout his entire administration. During those rare meetings, Biden had only answered five questions, according to the Times’ findings.
Adding further perspective, the newspaper detailed that then-President Barack Obama had held 19 cabinet meetings during his first term while Trump had gathered with his secretaries 25 times. Additionally, Biden hadn’t assembled his team for his first meeting until April 10, 2021, while Trump had his first cabinet meeting of his second term on Feb. 26.
The confirmation process had prevented the GOP leader from having his first-ever cabinet meeting until June during his first term.
Of course, as the current rate of meetings put Trump on pace to surpass the Biden administration in total public gatherings by more than five times, the previous occupant of the White House had the added onus of coverup via complicit parties from within and without the administration that helped downplay his cognitive abilities.
Months after Biden’s not-so-secret decline became too much to spin following his June 2024 debate with Trump and his subsequent withdrawal from the campaign, the then-president held his final cabinet meeting after a roughly year-long hiatus only to seat First Lady Jill Biden at the head of the table, handing her the reins as he said, “It’s all yours, kid.”
As had been reported at the time, Biden then departed the White House en route to his home in Delaware while the first lady held an event from the Rose Garden as questions resounded about the president’s mental faculties like that of former Trump adviser Steve Cortes who asked, “Who is running the country?”
