White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller appeared on Hannity Monday night to discuss the U.S. Supreme Court’s 5-4 ruling that allows the Trump administration to resume deportations under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.
Miller said the ruling serves as a clear message to what he called “crazy left judges” attempting to block the administration’s actions.
The Supreme Court’s decision came after U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg tried to halt the deportation of migrants alleged to be members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua.

President Donald Trump had invoked the Alien Enemies Act on March 15 to deport individuals linked to the gang.
The initial legal dispute arose when the Department of Justice and Judge Boasberg clashed over the use of the wartime statute.
Speaking to Fox News host Sean Hannity, Miller responded to Hannity’s characterization of the ruling as a “big win,” particularly in light of the Court’s assertion that the case was improperly filed in a D.C. district.
Hannity noted the deportations occurred in Texas and said Democrats “run to judicial activists” as a tactic to obstruct Trump’s plans.

“Without question,” Miller replied.
“So, you talk about it many times, Sean, judge shopping, forum shopping. The radical left lawyers like the ACLU will search for the most lunatic left judges in the whole country to try to shut down the president’s action even if there are no plaintiffs where that judge is operating. In this case, we had illegal aliens who were part of a designated foreign terrorist organization who have been declared alien enemies in Texas, and they were suing us in D.C.”
“This judge should have mooted out the case the second it was filed. Instead, the Supreme Court mooted it out for him,” Miller continued.
“What it means is that now all of these crazy left judges are on notice that President Trump is fighting back against lawfare. He’s fighting back against judge shopping and forum shopping, and we’re going to protect the powers of the president, and we’re going to protect the people of this country.”
After President Trump announced the use of the Alien Enemies Act on March 15, Judge Boasberg issued a temporary restraining order that same day.
However, by the time of the order, three deportation flights had already left Texas, transporting over 200 suspected gang members to El Salvador.
The legal challenge moved to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, where a three-judge panel upheld Boasberg’s temporary halt on March 26.
The Department of Justice then escalated the matter to the U.S. Supreme Court, which issued its ruling Monday evening.
The Supreme Court’s order requires that detainees subject to removal under the Alien Enemies Act “must receive notice after the date of this order that they are subject to removal under the Act.”
The court added that the notice must be given “within a reasonable time and in such a manner.”
During his interview, Miller also referenced the personal impact the immigration crisis has had on American families.
“You and I, Sean, have spent many hours with victims who have been murdered by the illegal aliens let into this country by Democrats,” Miller said.
“President Trump has hugged them. He’s held their hands. He’s looked into their eyes. He has promised them that their loved ones will not have died in vain. He is fulfilling that oath and that obligation, and with this ruling he will be empowered to keep America safe.”
In a separate action Monday evening, Chief Justice John Roberts issued a temporary stay of an order from U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis, who had instructed the administration to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an alleged MS-13 member deported to El Salvador in March.
