President Donald Trump followed through on delivering another promise to the American people with the release of George Glezmann from Taliban custody.
The terror organization had been holding Glezmann, 65, for over two years in Afghanistan, but was released following negation between the Trump administration and Qatari officials, Fox News Digital reported.
Glezmann was abducted in Kabul while visiting as a tourist on Dec. 5, 2022, but is currently on his way to Doha where he will be met by U.S. hostage envoy Adam Boehler and a team for the Qatari Foreign Ministry, Fox reported.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio celebrated the news on X:
George Glezmann is free. George was wrongfully detained in Afghanistan for two and a half years, but now he’s on his way to be reunited with his wife Aleksandra. Welcome home, George!

It remains uncertain whether Boehler’s meeting with the Afghan foreign ministry indicates that the U.S. will formally establish diplomatic relations with the Taliban, especially as Washington works to free another American still detained in Afghanistan.
U.S. citizen Mahmood Habibi has been held by the Taliban for more than two years, though the insurgent-run government denies it is holding him, Fox reported.
Meanwhile, plenty of Americans celebrated the news along with Rubio:

Releasing hostages left and right! Well done!
Please get more hostages out from Gaza and you’ll earn a Nobel Peace Prize!
Pressure Qatar and they’ll work out the details with Hamas. Qatar is pretending to mediate but it’s really the one calling the shots

1,000% true.
Results like this give citizens confidence as we travel. If something unfortunate occurs while you are in another country, it’s nice to know that our government will fight for us.
