Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) is planning to unveil legislation aimed at bringing NASA headquarters to Florida.
The bill has gained a shocking amount of bipartisan support:
Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL)
Rep. Scott Franklin (R-FL)
Rep. Mara Salazar (R-FL)
Rep. Daniel Webster (R-FL)
Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL)
Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL)
Rep. John Rutherford (R-FL)
Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL)
Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-FL)
Rep. Darren Soto (D-FL)
Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL)
Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL)
The Consolidating Aerospace Programs Efficiently at Canaveral Act is the “House version of a Senate bill” previously introduced by Florida Senators Rick Scott (R-FL) and Ashley Moody (R-FL). It would relocate the NASA headquarters from Washington, D.C. to Florida’s Space Coast, which is currently the home of the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station as well as the Kennedy Space Center. Both stations are primary launch sites for NASA, and the move would help streamline operations.
The lease for the current headquarters location will expire in the summer of 2028, and other states are getting in line to invite the organization to their state. Currently, Ohio lawmakers are petitioning Vice President JD Vance, also from Ohio, to advocate for relocating to Cleveland.
X users are supportive of the relocation:
I love having a Senator that makes such logical sense. NASA HQ in the Sunshine State!
