Kemi: Reeves is ‘One of the Best’ in Labour Party
Kemi Badenoch took to Talk this morning for an interview with Mike Graham, where she was quizzed on whether Rachel Reeves should lose her job after what she’s done to the economy. Badenoch offered somewhat of an endorsement of the Chancellor, calling Reeves “one of the best” Labour has and that it could be “worse”:
“Well, I think in any other field she would have, but I think she’s actually one of the best that they’ve got. Which is what’s really sad—if she goes, we’re likely to get someone much worse. If you listen to Labour backbenchers, a lot of the things they ask for are completely crazy. They would bankrupt the country tomorrow.”
Not exactly a blistering takedown of a Chancellor accused of tanking the economy, and the least popular cabinet minister among Labour members. Mel Stride also recently backed off from calling for Reeves to be sacked after revelations about her CV inflation, first reported by Guido…
Badenoch then weighed in on Labour’s freebie row after Reeves accepted free Sabrina Carpenter tickets, joking that she couldn’t understand how Reeves even had time to go to a concert, given that she herself works “morning and night.” Not sure British business agrees with this generous assessment of one of the most-hated Chancellors of all time…
