Police are searching for a woman accused of launching a racist and violent attack at a Chinese takeout restaurant in Harlem after reportedly becoming enraged over food prices.
The incident took place on April 6 around 2:30 p.m. at Empire Chinese Restaurant, located on Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard near West 141st Street, according to NYPD officials, as reported by The New York Post.

Authorities said the suspect began yelling racist, anti-Asian comments before physically assaulting two individuals. According to law enforcement sources, the woman shouted, “You Asians can’t stay here! Go back to your country!”

Following the verbal outburst, police said the suspect grabbed a 42-year-old woman by the hair and dragged her to the ground. The woman’s role in the establishment has not been confirmed.
The suspect then turned on a 48-year-old man, who police confirmed was an employee of the restaurant. The attacker struck the man multiple times in the head and face, resulting in a cut to his lip, according to police reports.
Both victims sustained minor injuries but declined medical treatment at the scene.

The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force has taken over the investigation, given the nature of the remarks and the violent escalation. Officials have classified the incident as a potential hate crime.

The suspect is described as a woman with a dark complexion. At the time of the assault, she was last seen wearing a black coat, black pants, and black sneakers. The NYPD released a surveillance photo of the woman on Monday in hopes of identifying her.
As of Monday afternoon, the suspect remained at large. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the NYPD or Crime Stoppers.

This case adds to a growing number of hate crimes investigated by New York law enforcement, particularly those targeting Asian Americans and business owners.
