Racist Jasmine Crockett argues we need illegals to pick our food and clean our hotels

Hitching herself to the stereotype bandwagon, Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett joined fellow Democrats in asserting what she thought of illegal aliens.

The second-term congresswoman, whose district encompasses much of the city of Dallas, has continued to increase her name ID, seemingly adopting an “all press is good press” attitude to public appearances. As it was, a March 8 conversation at South by Southwest (SXSW) went viral Friday after she became the latest leftist to express favor for importing cheap labor from abroad.

Joining The 19th News editor-at-large Erinn Haines, Crockett turned to the audience when discussing President Donald Trump’s deportation efforts and asked, “How many of you are sending your kids to college? How many of you are sending your kids to go to college to go and work on the farms?”

“Okay, well, guess who is working the farms so that you can afford your food…so that you can have food,” she continued before taking a similar tact with the work force in hotels and the home-building industry that was readily received as, “We need illegals to pick our crops and clean our hotel rooms since the educated won’t.”

“Now, how many of you are looking to send your kids into hospitality after this college education so that they can go and make the beds at the hotels?” she’d asked. “How many of you are planning to send your kids to college — because that’s what we do, we send everybody to college — how many of you are planning to send your kids to college so that they can then go and build these houses?”

“So, the reality is that, so long as we live in a capitalistic society, there’s always going to be someone, or a group of people, that will do work that some of the rest of y’all don’t want to do,” the congresswoman continued. “These are the people who are really making us great in this country. They pay into taxes. And guess what? They’re not able to pull down on Social Security. So to have people going out disparaging them and targeting them, that is not what makes us great.”

Crockett’s categorization of illegal aliens as a supply of cheap labor wasn’t unique among rank-and-file Democrats as Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal had recently taken a similar stance when she had stated in part, “We can’t let them deport the millions of families across this country…Look at the food on your table. Think about who picked it.”

Similar sentiments had been shared in the past by Reps. Jerry Nadler of New York, Nancy Pelosi of California and Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida. Of course, the Texas lawmaker’s remarks came around the same time that she contended illegal entry into the country was not a crime.

“They continue to say things like ‘the illegals’ and that they broke the law coming in,” Crockett said on MSNBC’s “The Katie Phang Show.”

“But what they’re not telling the American people is that it is a civil violation. It is not a criminal violation to enter the country illegally. It’s not. It’s not criminal. It’s not a crime. It’s not a crime,” she insisted.

Despite her contention, entering the country illegally is a crime as the federal misdemeanor violates 8 U.S. Code 1325 which includes penalties for a first offense of imprisonment of “not more than 6 months” or a fine. Subsequent offenses expanded time behind bars to no more than two years.

Along with getting slammed as racist, Crockett’s argument begged the question, “How’s that not endorsing a new servitude for cheap labor?”
