‘Probable cause’ found in ethics complaint to yank Hunter Biden’s law license in Connecticut

Connecticut authorities have found probable cause supporting ethics complaints to strip Hunter Biden of his law license in the state.

Statewide Grievance Committee said that former President Joseph R. Biden’s son likely engaged in misconduct based on the federal criminal charges against him.

“Two grievance complaints are pending against him in which probable cause has been found.  These two complaints are awaiting scheduling of public hearings before a reviewing committee of the Statewide Grievance Committee,” said Rhonda Hebert, deputy director of communications of the Connecticut Judicial Branch.

Ms. Hebert added that Mr. Biden also has “multiple administrative suspensions.”

A group that filed one of the ethics complaints against Hunter Biden had questioned why he had not voluntarily withdrawn his membership in the bar as he did earlier this week in Washington.

The Center for American Rights filed one of the complaints against Mr. Biden in 2024.

His license has been temporarily suspended in Connecticut since 2021 over failing to pay a $75 annual fee for lawyers. He had been admitted to practice law in Connecticut since 1997.

The Connecticut ethics complaints are similar to the disciplinary proceedings Mr. Biden faced in Washington over his criminal convictions.

In one criminal dispute out of Delaware, Mr. Biden was convicted of lying on a background check form about his drug use when purchasing a firearm.

And in the other dispute out of California, he pleaded guilty to charges related to financial crimes and tax evasion.

His father pardoned him shortly before the end of his term in the White House.

Earlier this week, Hunter Biden voluntarily gave up his D.C. law license, avoiding disciplinary proceedings.

He had held a D.C. law license since 2007.
