Fox News senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy found himself at the center of an unexpected moment on live television Friday when a bird landed on his head during a segment about President Donald Trump’s latest tariff threats and a growing water dispute with Mexico.
Doocy was delivering a report on Fox & Friends when the bird, believed to be a pigeon, interrupted his coverage by perching on his head.
The incident occurred just as Doocy was discussing China’s announcement to increase tariffs on U.S. imports to 125%, and President Trump’s separate announcement regarding potential sanctions against Mexico.

“Peter, I appreciate—” began Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade before being cut off by Doocy shouting, “It landed on my head!”
“What is going on?” Kilmeade asked as Doocy reacted to the bird’s landing. Co-host Lawrence Jones added, “Got to do the hair now!” as Doocy continued, “I did not like that at all!”
President Trump had posted on Truth Social Thursday that the United States may impose additional tariffs and sanctions on Mexico if it does not fulfill its obligation to deliver 1.3 million acre-feet of water as agreed under a 1944 treaty.
The Trump administration has stated that failure to meet the water obligation could have serious agricultural consequences for the United States, particularly for southern border states reliant on Rio Grande flows.

Despite the lighthearted interruption, Doocy returned to the story quickly.
“President Trump, if you are watching upstairs, we got to do something about these birds,” he said.
“Where is the park service? They are always out here in the street and blowing except when the birds are landing on my head!”
Roughly two hours after the incident, Doocy appeared on America’s Newsroom with Dana Perino and guest co-host Martha MacCallum. During the segment, Perino replayed the video of the bird encounter for MacCallum.
Doocy then revealed that Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum’s team had reached out after the footage circulated online.
“A couple of minutes ago, I got a text about that from the Interior Secretary’s team and they say that they’ve deployed all assets from the park service and fish and wildlife to figure out what’s going on,” Doocy said.
“So, we will be standing by here at the scene of the crime for that.”
The White House did not respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation regarding the incident.
While Doocy’s unexpected run-in with urban wildlife added a moment of levity to the broadcast, the issues he was reporting on remain serious.
The administration has maintained that trade relations with China and compliance from Mexico on water agreements are central to U.S. economic and agricultural stability.
The U.S. and China have seen increasing trade tensions in recent weeks, and China’s move to raise tariffs to 125% on American goods is expected to impact several key industries.
President Trump has warned of additional countermeasures if China or Mexico continues to act against U.S. interests.
