Obama portrait in White House bumped for Trump fist-pump painting

The White House is replacing a portrait of former President Barack Obama with the most iconic photograph of the 2024 presidential race.

President Donald Trump faced not one, but two assassination attempts during his race against Vice President Kamala Harris, shocking the nation and propelling him to the White House. Now, a photo snapped moments after the first attempt on his life will replace the portrait of Obama at the bottom of the Grand Staircase.

Look:

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino posted the side-by-side photo on his X account on Friday afternoon, showing a bloodied Trump raising his fist as he shouts “Fight!” to the gathered audience. The photo was snapped moments after the president was shot in the ear, allegedly by Thomas Crooks, in Butler, Pennsylvania. It quickly went viral as his supporters made it a symbol of his dedication to the American people.

According to White House Spokesperson Harrison Fields, the Obama portrait “remains in the Entrance Hall of the White House State Floor.”

It is fairly common for presidential portraits to be moved around as new White House occupants settle in for their terms.

X users couldn’t get enough of the change:
