NHS Hiring Two ‘Diversity’ Officers Costing Taxpayer £120,000 a Year
Wes Streeting has been making much noise about tackling woke waste in the NHS. Last month, he was quick to call out NHS diversity roles as “ideological hobby horses,” stressing that “anti-whiteness” has no place in the health service. Though it appears NHS hospitals haven’t quite got the memo…
UK DOGE’s The Waste Files has found that Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is advertising for a Head of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, offering a salary of £60,504 a year to “drive forward our EDI agenda and develop an inclusive culture.” Not a bad gig, that also comes with some “exclusive discounts” on cars, extra leave days, and NHS Discount Offers. Over at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the role of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Lead is also up for grabs, with the same salary on offer. This lucky hire will be responsible for the arduous task of ensuring the hospital complies with the “workforce race equality standard,” “equality delivery standard,” and “gender pay gap reporting.” Both these woke warriors will cost the taxpayer £121,008 a year. For that you could:
- Pay for 20 hernia operations.
- Fund 450 ambulance call outs.
- Buy 4,840 crutches.
The taxpayer may have a view on which should be prioritised. UK DOGE recommends costs are cut here…
