Nancy Pelosi Gets Thrown to the Wolves in New Book Revealing 2024 Election Details

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) played a key role in the behind-the-scenes push to remove Joe Biden from the 2024 presidential race, while continuing to publicly defend him, according to a new book released this week.

The revelations come from Uncharted: How Trump Beat Biden, Harris, and the Odds in the Wildest Campaign in History by political author Chris Whipple, who interviewed senior aides and political insiders about the tumultuous 2024 election cycle.

As reported by Fox News, the book sheds new light on Pelosi’s involvement in the events leading up to Biden’s withdrawal from the race and her shifting public and private positions.

According to the book, Pelosi privately expressed concerns about Biden’s cognitive health long before he exited the race.

Whipple writes that Pelosi visited the White House in May 2024 for an awards ceremony and was “startled by how much the president had aged.”

Despite her personal observations, Pelosi publicly downplayed concerns about Biden’s mental state, even going as far as criticizing a Wall Street Journal report in early June that questioned his cognitive fitness.

“A new book claims that Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., privately said former President Biden had lost a step ahead of his decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential campaign, before she publicly bashed a Wall Street Journal story on his cognitive decline,” the report noted.

Whipple also claims that Biden felt “betrayed” by Pelosi after she helped nudge him out of the race, even as she praised him publicly during Democratic National Committee events.

At the August 2024 DNC convention, Pelosi applauded Biden’s contributions and even joked that he should be considered for Mount Rushmore—despite having already supported his replacement on the ticket, then-Vice President Kamala Harris.

Whipple said in an interview with Politico that many of Biden’s senior aides operated in what he described as a “fog of delusion” about the president’s condition.

“Calling it a cover-up doesn’t go far enough,” he stated.

After Biden’s departure from the race on July 21, 2024—less than a month after his widely criticized debate performance against then-candidate Donald Trump—Pelosi continued to play a central role in Democratic messaging.

However, when Harris lost both the Electoral College and the popular vote to Trump in November, becoming the first Democrat to lose the popular vote since 2004, Pelosi shifted the blame back to Biden.

In an interview with The New York Times shortly after the election, Pelosi said Biden had endorsed Harris “too quickly,” suggesting that the transition hurt the party’s chances.

Another 2024 campaign book, Fight: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House, alleges that Harris had to personally plead with Biden for that endorsement after he suspended his campaign.

Despite the public tensions, Pelosi appeared surprised that Jill Biden, who was seen as a key figure in keeping Joe Biden in the race for as long as he remained, would take issue with her actions.

Whipple’s book suggests Pelosi was “shocked and saddened” by the fallout between the two.

The Wall Street Journal later published another in-depth report on the final weeks of the Biden-Harris administration in December 2024, offering additional documentation of internal dysfunction and missed warning signs—weeks before President Trump was sworn in for his second term.

Now 85, Pelosi continues to serve in Congress and has filed to run for reelection in 2026, despite already serving her 20th term.

While questions continue to circulate about party leadership and internal accountability, Pelosi remains a central figure in the ongoing Democratic response to the 2024 election outcome.
