MSNBC Host Blames Trump After Arson Attack Against PA Dem Governor Shapiro [WATCH]

MSNBC host Symone Sanders suggested Monday night that the responsibility for rising political violence lies with the Oval Office, following an attempted arson attack on the home of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.

Speaking during the broadcast of MSNBC Prime, Sanders commented on the recent attack, which occurred just hours after a Passover Seder was held at the governor’s residence.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the motive behind the attack, and an investigation is ongoing.

“We don’t know, we have to let the investigation play out,” Sanders said.

“But obviously, the Seder, the Passover Seder happened earlier that evening, and then, hours later, this man attempted to enter the Governor’s home and set fire to it. We don’t know if he had motivations that had to do with the fact that the Governor was Jewish, but an investigation will vet that out.”

While acknowledging the uncertainty surrounding the suspect’s intent, Sanders described the incident as part of a broader pattern of political attacks.

She drew a connection to the recent attempted assassination of President Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a gunman opened fire, narrowly missing Trump but killing one attendee and injuring others.

Sanders noted the bipartisan calls to “lower the temperature” in the wake of the Trump shooting attempt, but argued that Democrats were unfairly expected to take the lead in calming tensions.

“I remember very vividly when President Trump was — the attempted shooting against him, and all the Democrats and Republicans spoke out, and you had Democrats bending over backwards to say, we have to take the temperature down, we have to bring the temperature down, when they weren’t even the people that ratcheted the temperature up,” Sanders said.

She then placed responsibility on President Trump, suggesting his rhetoric has fueled a hostile political climate.

“The people that ratcheted the temperature up, the folks that should have been the loudest here, in my opinion, it should have been coming from the Oval Office,” Sanders said.

Referring to Trump’s comments following the attempted arson on Governor Shapiro’s home, Sanders paraphrased the president’s response.

“All Donald Trump had to say, and I’m going to paraphrase here, the attacker wasn’t a fan of Trump. I understand from what I read and from what I’ve been told. So, the president, the attacker basically wasn’t a fan of anybody. He’s probably just a whack job and certainly a thing like that cannot be allowed to happen,” she quoted.

Later in the segment, Sanders also referenced attacks on Tesla dealerships, though she did not provide specifics or link the incidents to any broader trend.

Governor Shapiro’s office has not released further updates on the ongoing investigation.

Law enforcement agencies are continuing to gather information on the suspect and determine whether the act was politically or religiously motivated.

No injuries were reported in the incident, and authorities have confirmed that Governor Shapiro and his family were not harmed.
