Ministry of Defence Hiring Army ‘Climate Change’ Officer for £36,530
Yesterday Keir Starmer delivered a speech vowing to “secure our future” – not just in response to President Trump’s tariffs, but also by boosting defence spending in light of a “changing world, particularly in relation to the war in Ukraine.” While Starmer is busy holding press conferences, UK DOGE has been digging into ways to free up cash for defence…
The Ministry of Defence is hiring an ‘Army Climate Change and Sustainability Officer’ at an annual salary of £36,530, plus a cushy £10,582 pension contribution. The lucky recruit will be tasked with “developing the Army’s thinking” on “decarbonisation, climate adaptation, energy transition, and enabling activities.” Based at the British Army’s headquarters in Andover, the role naturally offers “flexible working”, including two days a week from home. The MoD’s advert laments: “The Government has identified Climate Change as one of the greatest threats to both UK and global security and prosperity.” Guido can think of a few other global threats…
For that you could:
-
Purchase 410 Army Mk7 helmets.
-
Buy 2,029 Army 24-hour ration packs.
-
Buy 37 standard-issue SA80 Army rifles.
The taxpayer may have a view on which should be prioritised. UK DOGE recommends costs are cut here…
