Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) sounded the alarm on what he calls a troubling financial scheme involving taxpayer money, campaign donations, and political figures.
During a Fox Business segment with Lisa Kennedy Montgomery, Burchett applauded Elon Musk for shedding light on how taxpayer funds may be funneled into political campaigns through nonprofit organizations.
“All you’re seeing right now is the graph. And that’s why the left is pitching such a fit, because Elon Musk, very bravely, has stated, ‘There is a paper trail, and it will lead us to where this is,’” Burchett said. He warned that taxpayer money is being funneled back into political pockets, saying, “Good and well that that stuff’s going to go right out of the American taxpayers’ back pocket, right into the pockets of politicians.”
Elon Musk Called This Financial News ‘Terrifying’
Burchett suggested that past instances of questionable financial activity have already been documented, but now the full scope may be revealed.
“In the past, we’ve seen it go into campaigns—that’s been documented through some other funding sources. But now you’re, I think you’re going to see some people should go to jail, and possibly members of Congress,” he added.
Montgomery pressed Burchett on whether he had solid proof that members of Congress should face legal consequences, saying, “So, possibly members of Congress. Because what the suspicion is is that the money is going out of the government under Democrat-run administrations, and it could be getting recycled back in campaign donations. Do you have hard evidence for why members of Congress should go to jail?”
Burchett responded, saying, “Well, if they’re involved in it, and if their family members are profiting from it, then your dad gum right. They should absolutely 100%.” He elaborated on the alleged scheme, explaining how nonprofits serve as a cover for political money laundering.

“These NGOs are very well documented by Elon Musk. He explained to us pretty easy how they do it. Some billionaire will put a million dollars and form some NGO with a great name. It’ll have a million dollars in their account and have a few prominent people on their board. And then the federal government’s looking for places. Democrats are looking for places to dump these tons of stolen taxpayer money into an NGO, and then they take it and they filter it out among their board members and their political friends, and that’s the way it works,” Burchett explained.
According to Burchett, this is why Democrats are resisting Musk’s revelations so fiercely.
“And he’s going to document it, and that’s why you’re seeing them pitch such a fit,” he said.
He also suggested that younger members of Congress speaking out against Musk’s findings may be acting as shields for senior politicians. “All they all they doing is these old timers are allowing them to walk the plank so they can do their dirty work, and their hands are never touching it.”
Montgomery highlighted the deep political connections of individuals tied to the nonprofit organizations involved.
“Yeah, we found names like, you know, Obama’s transportation secretary, Anthony Fox, Michael Regan. Michael Regan is Biden’s EPA chief, you know, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Lee, Gavin Newsom touted a nonprofit involved in this. We have, you know, Democrat mayors like Bill de Blasio, LA Mayor Eric Garcetti. So it’s very deep—Obama’s OMB aides, his energy department people,” she noted.
Tim Burchett just laid out how Elon Musk is over the target right now and calls for people to go to jail over what DOGE is uncovering, including members of Congress.

Burchett did not hold back in his assessment, emphasizing that Musk’s findings could lead to accountability at the highest levels of government.
As scrutiny mounts, Musk’s documentation of financial transactions and political funding sources may provide a clearer picture of how taxpayer dollars are being used—and whether any legal repercussions will follow.
