Elon Musk doubled down on his harsh criticism of Senator Mark Kelly, and the Arizona Democrat is hitting back.
Earlier in the month, Musk sparked a firestorm when he accused the high-profile Dem and former astronaut a “traitor.”
The jab came in response to Kelly prioritizing foreign interests with a recent trip to Ukraine and a plea to keep sending billions for a never-ending and deadly war.
Musk took plenty of heat for the accusation but didn’t back down when questioned about it on FOX News Channel’s ‘Special Report.’
“You posted that he was a traitor. Why do that?” host Bret Baier asked.
Musk seemingly surprised the Fox host with a somber and resolute response, arguing that he should put the interests of the United States above the interests of another country; if not, he considers you a “traitor.”
But, Musk was just getting started.
Elon Musk becomes deeply moved, and deadly serious, when Bret Baier asks him why he called Sen. Mark Kelly a “Traitor” for pushing to send more US aid and weapons to Ukraine.

“We should have empathy for the thousands of people dying everyday in the trenches. For no movement in the lines. For the past two years thousands of people have died every week for nothing,” Musk continued.
“I take great offense at those who put the appearance of goodness over the reality of it. Those who virtue signal and say we can’t give into Russia, but have no solution to stopping thousands of kids dying every day.
“I have contempt for such people and I want to make that clear. Because they’re virtue signaling and their lack of a solution means that kids don’t have a father. It means parents lost a son. For what? Nothing.”
Kelly responded a short time later on CNN.
“I don’t even know if he deserves a response,” Kelly said. “What I will say is that I’ve spent an entire career standing up for our country, defending our country, flying in combat over Iraq, flying in space on the space shuttle, serving in the United States Senate.
“My entire life has been about serving this country, and I always stand with the best interests of our nation. And I will tell you this … standing with our allies and standing up for democracy is in the best interest of the United States.”
The Dem Senator then tried to turn the tables, and accused Musk of misplaced priorities and being “much closer to Russia.”
“I mean, who is Elon standing with at this point? A bunch of billionaires?” he asked. “I would put Elon at this point, in the category of being much closer to Russia on this issue.”
Kelly also responded on X, along with more Democrat talking points.
Still going with the “traitor” line, Elon?
You still don’t get it: Supporting our allies and defending democracy makes our country safer.
What you’re doing, firing veterans and attacking Social Security, that only serves you and your billionaire friends looking for a tax cut. pic.twitter.com/EEZpimHXF3

Reaction to both Kirk’s and Kelly’s posts appeared to overwhelmingly favor those who want to see an end to the war, and an end to never-ending American tax dollars that fund it.
Elon’s focus is cutting bureaucratic bloat—something Washington could learn from. Real support for veterans means efficient government, not endless waste. Social Security’s real threat? Trillions funneled into foreign aid and green subsidies that do nothing for seniors.

This is so asinine even for Kelly. Musk is already the richest man in the world and doesn’t need a tax cut and tax cuts are not uncreased when waste, fraud and abuse in government is eliminated. Standard leftist talking point.

@elonmusk’s interview was excellent. I understand what he meant about you and other virtue signalers on Ukraine being traitors. The only solution is a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. You agitating for more war just means more young people will die.

On the day that Elon Musk rescued the astronauts, former astronaut, Senator Mark Kelly gave interviews about getting rid of his Tesla.
Kelly is not a patriot.— Marla Hohner (@marlahohner) March 27, 2025
Elon went full truth-bomb here. When a billionaire drops the mask and starts sounding like a war-weary soldier instead of a polished CEO, you know it’s real. The warmongers in DC treat real human lives like Monopoly pieces, and Elon just called their bluff.

@elonmusk feelings about the war are spot on. All these people have died “for what?”
It needs to stop.
