Late Night NBC Host Melts Down Over Trump Speech, Ignores Democratic Missteps [WATCH]

NBC’s Late Night host Seth Meyers took aim at President Donald Trump’s Tuesday night address to Congress, mocking the speech while simultaneously overlooking the years of personal attacks Democrats have lobbed at Trump.

During his Wednesday night monologue, Meyers attempted to discredit the president’s speech by calling it dull and making a series of repetitive jabs.

“Let me tell you, of all the things I’ve said about Donald Trump over the years, you know, and I’ve said a lot. I’ve called him weird, racist, weird, fascist, weird, stupid, weird, a liar, weird, a moron, weird, and a weird weirdo who’s weirdly weird,” Meyers said.

He continued, “I even have a new children’s book called about Trump in the NBC store called Where’s Weirdo? You can find it in the free bin right next to Dwight Schrute’s cookbooks. Of all the things I said about Donald Trump, I never thought I would also call him boring. But guys, this speech, it was boring.”

Despite Meyers’ claims, the reaction inside the congressional chamber painted a different picture. Trump’s address prompted standing ovations from Republicans, while many Democrats remained seated in protest.

The stark contrast throughout the speech reflected the deep political divide, making it difficult to argue that the moment was uneventful.

Later in his monologue, Meyers shifted his focus to Trump’s remarks about Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), who Trump has repeatedly referred to as “Pocahontas” due to her past claims of Native American ancestry.

“Also, can we please cool it with the whole ‘wither decorum’ dance? This guy changed the game, and these are the new rules,” Meyers said.

“He literally called Elizabeth Warren Pocahontas again last night, which is … deeply offensive and a film that is 20 minutes shorter than the speech last night.”

Meyers’ comments came despite the fact that Warren’s disputed ancestry claims have long been a topic of political discussion.

A DNA test she took in 2018 revealed that her Native American ancestry was between 1/64 and 1/1024, a fraction lower than the average American.

While Meyers took issue with Trump’s reference to Warren, he ignored the long list of derogatory terms Democrats and media figures have used against the president.

For years, Trump has been called a “fascist,” “white supremacist,” and even compared to Hitler by his political opponents.

Liberal commentators and politicians alike have used inflammatory language, including President Joe Biden, who once referred to Trump supporters as “garbage.”

Meyers’ criticism also overlooked how Democrats have characterized Trump voters.

Many on the left have used the term “Nazis” and other extreme rhetoric to describe the president’s supporters, fueling political division.

Despite Meyers’ characterization of Trump’s speech as uneventful, the reaction from Democrats suggests otherwise.

Many Democratic lawmakers refused to applaud key moments, with some engaging in silent protests throughout the address.
