Labour Growth Blocking Assisted By Ecologists Behind Infamous HS2 Bat Tunnel
Labour’s attempts to gaslight the public into believing they’re ‘pro-growth’ are already wearing thin. Fresh off the government’s promise to “cut green tape” and “get Britain building,” King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Council rejected a significant pig and poultry farm expansion. The project would have created hundreds of jobs and supply 0.5% of UK pork. Starmerite MP Terry Jermy’s lengthy anti-growth speech about saving the environment helped with that one…
The council’s decision was based on a habitats regulations assessment (HRA) from eco-warrior consultancy firm BSG Ecology – the same firm which was heavily involved in the infamous HS2 bat tunnel. BSG Ecology’s research project, which ran from 2015 to 2018, developed “the use of acoustic deterrents as part of a bat mitigation strategy for the proposed new HS2 rail line.” In fact, BSG Ecology even won an Association of Noise Consultants ‘Innovation Award’ award in 2019 for their work on the HS2 bat tunnel. Labour’s endless cries of “no more bat tunnels” now ring hollow when the very same firm pushing that tunnel – which Starmer called “absurd” – is advising against this pro-growth expansion…
The review didn’t include a single site visit or any additional data-gathering. Instead, it concluded that there was “insufficient evidence to conclude that the proposed developments will not cause adverse effects” on the environment. In other words, developers are guilty until proven innocent. Starmer may talk a good game about being anti-green tape, but letting eco-reviews like this derail pro-growth projects shows it’s just more hot air…
