Labour Cracks Down on Westminster Nightlife With ‘Quiet Nights’ and Non-Alcoholic Activities
Westminster’s Labour council has just unveiled its first-ever plan for nightlife in the area after 6 p.m. It’s not exactly a great blueprint for fun-loving Westminster goers, encouraging venues to introduce ‘quiet nights’ and ‘non-alcoholic led’ activities. Who said Labour was a killjoy party…
The recommendations include:
- Expanding joint council and police unit to tackle anti-social behaviour.
- Encouraging non-alcohol-led activities at night. Unlikely to attract the current cabal of SW1 goers…
- Supporting “culturally significant LGBTQ+ spaces.” Whatever that means…
- Encouraging venues to host “quiet nights” with reduced noise levels, dimmed lighting, and designated “calm zones.” Yawn…
- All new licensed venues must show they are “prioritising women’s safety.”
- An extra 100 CCTV cameras.
And Guido thought London nightlife under ex-‘night tsar’ Amy Lamé was bad enough…
