President Donald Trump drew a round of laughter Monday morning during a White House event honoring the Los Angeles Dodgers for their 2024 World Series championship.
The light-hearted moment came during his remarks, which included an unscripted comment aimed at California Senators Adam Schiff and Alex Padilla, both of whom were in attendance.
The Dodgers secured the Major League Baseball title last November after defeating the New York Yankees in five games.

The visit to the White House marked a significant shift from 2020, when the team declined to participate in a similar ceremony after their championship win that year.
During the event, President Trump addressed the team and several guests gathered in the East Room.
While acknowledging those present, Trump made an unexpected remark.
“We have a couple of senators here. I just don’t particularly like them, so I won’t introduce them,” Trump said.

The comment was met with laughter from the audience, including members of the Dodgers organization.
The reaction momentarily paused Trump’s prepared remarks.
“Over the course of this amazing season, the members of this team…” Trump began again, before being interrupted by more laughter from the room.
Turning toward a team member nearby, Trump leaned in and quietly added, “I didn’t think it was that big of a deal, actually,” referring to the audience’s response.

The brief moment drew attention not just because of the President’s unscripted tone, but also because of the presence of the two Democratic senators from California.
Sen. Adam Schiff, a longtime critic of Trump, and Sen. Alex Padilla, who succeeded Kamala Harris in the Senate, both attended the ceremony as part of the state’s official delegation.
Neither Schiff nor Padilla responded publicly to the comment during the event.
The White House ceremony otherwise focused on the accomplishments of the Dodgers, with Trump congratulating the team on their championship season and highlighting the club’s performance throughout the 2024 campaign.
“This team showed resilience, skill, and heart,” Trump said during his formal remarks.
“You brought pride to Los Angeles and to baseball fans across the country.”
The event also included appearances by Dodgers executives, coaching staff, and players.
Several team members presented the President with a personalized jersey and posed for photos following the ceremony.
Trump has regularly hosted championship teams at the White House, with visits often drawing national attention for their mix of celebration and political subtext.
Monday’s event was no exception.
The Dodgers’ decision to attend marked a shift from past years.
In 2020, the team declined an invitation following their title win, citing political disagreements.
Their participation this year was seen by some observers as a reflection of changing dynamics both within the organization and in broader political circles.
The ceremony concluded without incident, and the team departed the White House after the presentation.
Neither Sen. Schiff nor Sen. Padilla issued any statements following the event.
