White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has already surpassed one of her Biden-era predecessors in the number of PolitiFact “fact-checks” she’s received, and it took her only two months on the job to do it.
As Fox News reported, PolitiFact recently issued its latest ruling against Leavitt, targeting her comment that “tariffs are a tax cut for the American people.”

Predictably, the left-wing outfit labeled it “False.” Chief correspondent Louis Jacobson regurgitated the well-worn liberal talking point that “virtually all economists” consider tariffs as “tax hikes rather than tax cuts.”

This marked Leavitt’s third PolitiFact “fact-check” since she stepped into the press secretary role in January—already edging out former Biden press secretary Jen Psaki, who racked up just two fact-checks in her entire tenure.
Psaki held the position for 16 months but somehow only landed on PolitiFact’s radar twice: once in November 2021, when she was caught falsely spinning Biden’s disastrous Build Back Better agenda, and once in January 2022, when they generously rated her comment on COVID vaccines as “True.”

Leavitt, on the other hand, had her first two PolitiFact rulings by January 30—less than two weeks into the job. One was rated “False” and the other “Half-True.”
The conservative media watchdog NewsBusters quickly flagged the lopsided treatment, exposing the obvious bias in how PolitiFact applies its so-called “fact-checking” standards.

To put things in perspective, Leavitt is now just one ruling away from surpassing Karine Jean-Pierre, Biden’s second press secretary, who served from May 2022 to January 2025.
Jean-Pierre, over nearly three years in the role, received a mere four PolitiFact reviews, with two deemed “False” and the other two earning the softer “Mostly True” rating.
Notably, Jean-Pierre wasn’t even hit with a fact-check until a full month after taking the podium—contrast that with Leavitt, who was scrutinized in less than two weeks.

The contrast is even more stark when looking at how Trump’s press secretaries were treated. Sean Spicer, Kayleigh McEnany, and Sarah Huckabee Sanders all faced the fact-checking wrath of PolitiFact far more frequently than any Biden press secretary.
McEnany was hit four times between 2020 and 2021, Sanders faced five reviews during her tenure, and Spicer topped the list with nine fact-checks in just six months.
White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers didn’t hold back in response to PolitiFact’s blatant bias.
“PolitiFact’s so called ‘reporters’ aren’t fact checkers; they are left-wing crusaders dedicated to spinning the truth, perpetrating lies, and promoting the Democrats’ radical agenda. Karoline Leavitt has been so honest and transparent with the press that the fake fact-checkers at PolitiFact are having a hard time finding any facts to check.”
Looks like the “fact-checkers” have their marching orders. Attack conservatives, protect Democrats, and call it journalism.
