A newly released political book is stirring debate across media and political circles, offering a behind-the-scenes account of the 2024 presidential election and the internal Democratic Party struggles that led to Kamala Harris replacing Joe Biden on the ticket—only to lose decisively to Donald Trump.
Fight, authored by Amie Parnes and Jonathan Allen, chronicles the events that led to what it describes as an intra-party coup led by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, forcing President Biden off the Democratic ticket.
The book alleges that Pelosi played a critical role in pushing Biden aside after concerns about his mental acuity and electability reached a tipping point within the party.

According to the book, Democratic leadership and operatives scrambled to rally behind Kamala Harris, who had been unpopular even within her own ranks.
The authors write that Harris was able to mobilize donor support quickly, but her candidacy soon faced challenges, including persistent doubts about her qualifications and leadership style.
The book paints a picture of disarray within Democratic ranks as they tried to defend multiple weak spots in their 2024 strategy.
Efforts to convince the public of Biden’s mental sharpness failed following what was widely seen as a poor performance in the June presidential debate against President Donald Trump.

Similarly, attempts to rebrand Harris as a strong, qualified alternative reportedly failed to gain traction with voters.
The situation was discussed during a recent episode of Morning Meeting on 2Way, hosted by former MSNBC analyst Mark Halperin.
Guest Sean Spicer, former White House press secretary, did not hold back in his assessment of Harris’ campaign performance.
“She wouldn’t win an election for dogcatcher,” Spicer said.
“She was terrible, her staff was bad, and her strategy was bad—everything about the Harris operation reeked of incompetence, much like the Biden White House.”
Dan Turrentine, another guest on the program, also expressed skepticism about Harris’ political future.
He noted that although there is talk of a comeback effort in the form of a potential California gubernatorial run, Harris remains a flawed candidate whose prospects are far from certain.
Halperin echoed the criticisms, pointing to Harris’ decision-making as a core weakness.
“She doesn’t like to make difficult decisions under pressure,” Halperin said.
“What’s her message, and how will she sell why she’s the gal to lead California after suffering what arguably is a public career-ending defeat?”
“If she ran for dogcatcher, she’d lose,” says @SeanSpicer about Kamala Harris, after he read a new book about the 2024 campaign, “Fight,” by @amieparnes and @jonallendc. “It is so bad, when you start to read how horrible of a candidate she was, about the staff infighting … Her… pic.twitter.com/kegoVydxXB

He added that Harris’ struggle to define her message and take decisive action during key moments in the campaign reflected poorly on her executive capabilities.
Harris has not publicly responded to the commentary or to the claims made in Fight.
However, Democratic insiders have acknowledged that the 2024 campaign cycle left the party fractured and in search of a new direction heading into 2028.
The book continues to gain attention among political analysts, journalists, and insiders, as it offers a detailed, unfiltered look into a campaign cycle marked by last-minute decisions, weak messaging, and a divided party unable to unify behind its new standard-bearer.
As the Democratic Party considers its path forward, scrutiny of Harris’ leadership and performance during the 2024 campaign is expected to remain a focal point in discussions over the party’s future.
