Republican Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley said on Fox News Thursday that the liberals are “going crazy” because they know President Donald Trump is right about China.
Chinese officials reportedly admitted in December that Beijing launched cyberattacks on U.S. infrastructure in response to American support for Taiwan, escalating tensions between the two nations. During an appearance on “The Ingraham Angle,” Hawley slammed the Biden administration’s handling of China and said Trump’s aggressive stance on that nation is driving political opponents to the brink.
“The liberals are going crazy, and they’re going nuts because they know he’s right,” Hawley said. “They don’t have any answer for it. They know he’s right. They know this is what needs to happen.”
Hawley accused the Biden administration of neglect and weakness in the face of mounting cyber threats.

“It’s outrageous. It’s also something we’ve known for a long time. I mean, the truth is the Biden administration knew very well that China was behind these cyberattacks,” Hawley said.
Laura Ingraham had asked Hawley about what she called a tacit admission by Chinese officials that Beijing was responsible for a wave of cyber intrusions targeting U.S. infrastructure.
Hawley pointed to the so-called ‘Salt Typhoon’ attack as a glaring example of China’s intrusion into American digital infrastructure and communications grids.
“There’s the Salt Typhoon attack, which is China getting into our digital infrastructure, getting into our communications grid. They’re still there, by the way, Laura. What did the Biden administration do about it? Nothing,” Hawley said. “This is the problem. For years, China has been eating our lunch, stealing our jobs, taking our industries, taking our technology, cheating on trade. Joe Biden didn’t do a thing. He couldn’t be woken up to do anything about it.”
In contrast, Hawley said Trump was the only leader with the guts to take decisive action against China. (RELATED: ‘He Suckered China In’: Geraldo Rivera Praises Trump For ‘Brilliant’ Tariff Moves)
“And now Donald Trump is getting serious. He’s actually protecting this country, protecting our jobs, bringing back industry. That’s what we need him to do,” Hawley added.
Trump announced a 90-day suspension of reciprocal tariffs for most nations on Wednesday, while raising tariffs on Chinese imports to 125%. This announcement follows Trump’s initial “Liberation Day” tariff declaration that launched reciprocal tariffs on roughly 60 countries.
China quickly hit back at Trump’s tariff hike, with its Finance Ministry declaring 34% tariffs on all U.S. imports starting April 10. Trump responded on Truth Social, accusing Beijing of mishandling the situation and saying China “played it wrong.”
