Jessica Tarlov Has Meltdown Over Trump Post—Watters Responds: ‘Be Cool’ [WATCH]

Tensions rose during a segment of Fox News’ The Five on Wednesday, as co-host Jesse Watters and Democrat strategist Jessica Tarlov sparred over President Donald Trump’s newly announced tariff policy, dubbed “Liberation Day.”

As reported by The Independent Journal Review, the exchange followed Trump’s April 2 announcement imposing a 10% baseline tariff on goods from approximately 60 countries, with some nations—such as China—facing higher rates in response to their own tariffs on U.S. goods.

Trump emphasized that the measure was reciprocal and aimed at leveling the playing field for American workers and businesses. Following the announcement, the stock market declined for two consecutive days but recovered somewhat on Tuesday.

On air, Tarlov expressed concern that the tariffs would drive up costs for American consumers and business owners.

“You have people from small business owners to huge investors that were backing Donald Trump in the election, very publicly coming out and saying that what he’s doing is crazy.”

“I can’t use the expletive that [GOP megadonor] Ken Langone, for instance, used, but I think that he knows what’s going to be good for Main Street when you have Walmart coming out and say they can’t even do their normal economic forecasting because of the impact of these tariffs. That’s why it’s so important to note the fact that he took off some of the retaliatory tariffs, but he still has this 10% baseline tariff, which will jack up prices,” Tarlov added.”

Judge Jeanine Pirro responded by pointing out that despite the dip in the stock market, it had a “rebound day” on Tuesday. She then turned to Watters for his take.

“She’s just a panicin’. You heard what he said, ‘Sit back and be cool,’ Jessica. You can’t get so freaked out.”

Tarlov replied sharply:

“Do you know how obnoxious it is to tell a small business owner to ‘be cool’?”

Watters was quoting Trump’s post on Truth Social from the day prior, in which the President wrote, “BE COOL! Everything is going to work out well. The USA will be bigger and better than ever before!”

Watters added:

“Jessica, I’m telling you to be cool. I’m telling these small business owners I’ll be around Sunday, and I’ll buy the whole place up. Relax. He’s doing something that needed to be done. It’s a little bit crazy right now, but it’ll end up good in the long run. We’ve talked about this all week. You haven’t been here.”

Since the policy rollout, Trump said that more than 75 countries have contacted U.S. officials—including those at the Departments of Commerce, Treasury, and the U.S. Trade Representative—to begin discussions on trade arrangements.

Watters also pointed out that Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer visited the White House Wednesday as Trump signed an executive order to fund infrastructure upgrades in the state.

“Biden didn’t do it. Obama didn’t do it. He did it. He spent the money, and he did it. Big Gretch was there to thank him. You know why, Jessica? He’s problem solving.”

He concluded, “That’s the bottom line. That’s why young Democrats are mad at their old fogies, because they had power just a little while ago, and they squandered it. They spent trillions, and they have nothing to show for it.”
