Landon ain’t wrong…
The CONCACAF Nations League went absolutely terrible for the United States men’s national team, as the Americans started their international break with back-to-back defeats against Panama and Canada.
With the Panama game, our opponents managed to slide through the cracks and steal a 1-0 victory after hitting the match-winning goal in the 94th minute. The loss put the U.S. up against Canada in the third-place game Sunday, but the Americans lost that too, 2-1. Needless to say, the Mauricio Pochetino era has gotten off to a horrendous start with both of those losses also being on home soil. And to make it even worse, the manager before Pochettino (Gregg Berhalter) didn’t have a single Nations League loss on his resume.
And one person who was incredibly livid about it: U.S. soccer legend Landon Donovan.
“I’m so sick of hearing how ‘talented’ this group of players is and all the amazing clubs they play for,” ranted Donovan. “If you aren’t going to show up and actually give a s!%* about playing for your national team, decline the invite. Talent is great, pride is better.”

At this rate, we won’t even get a single World Cup win … pick it up, fellas.
