A United Airlines passenger has been banned from the airline after knocking a gate agent out cold at the Dulles International Airport.
March 13 was a bad day to be a gate agent at the Washington, D.C.-area airport, especially if you had to deal with Maryland resident Christopher Stuart Crittenden. The shocking assault was caught on video, as aired by WUSA.
As he approaches the unfortunate employee, he can be heard saying “I’m done with this bullsh*t,” before cocking back and swinging.
Watch:
The gate agent was hospitalized as a result of the attack and Crittenden was only banned from ever flying United again. All of this reportedly began over a flight cancellation.
The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Works Union (IAM Union) put out a statement condemning the violence and demanding stronger protections for airline employees, many of whom find themselves on the receiving end of customer wrath when travel plans go awry.
“Our members deserve a workplace where they can focus on providing excellent customer service—not one where they fear being attacked by passengers. This latest incident is yet another example of the unacceptable rise in violence against frontline airline workers, and immediate action is needed to address it,” part of the statement reads.
