GOP chairman who called trans Dem ‘mister’ forced to cancel event after death threats

Texas Rep. Keith Self was forced to cancel an event after he referred to Democrat Delaware Rep. Sarah McBride as “mister” during a hearing on Tuesday.

The use of “mister” to address the transgender lawmaker incensed Dem Rep. Bill Keating who lashed out at Self.

Self did not back down, further angering Keating, creating a viral scene on the House floor.

Republicans are not letting up on addressing “Sarah McBride” as Mr. McBride, nor should they.

Mr. McBride was supposed to strut into DC as a trans icon, but the timing couldn’t have been worse.

Amid the fallout, Self announced on Facebook that he was canceling a planned meet and greet.

“In recent days, the rhetoric from the left has turned vile and hateful. My office received multiple death threats and threats of violence—several of which are currently being investigated by authorities,” Self said. “Rather than place constituents, their families, and their property in harm’s way, I’ve decided to err on the side of caution and postpone Saturday’s Koffee with Keith in Greenville, Texas.”

“I look forward to re-engaging with constituents again very soon,” Self ended the post.

Unsurprisingly, leftists are having a field day with the cancellation and are berating the Facebook post with insults, many of which are calling the Rep. “Madame Keith Self.”

Self is wise to cancel his event amid a wave of deranged backlash at numerous Republican events across the country. But, he’s not backing down from his original stance.

“I am a retired Green Beret. I’m not even sure what all the fuss is about…I spent 25 years on active duty defending his right to live his life as he chooses—but I don’t have to participate in his fantasies,” Self told Michael Knowles.
