The ride, “Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure,” is described by Disney as a 4D experience where visitors “join Chef Remy on a daring culinary caper.”
The attraction takes guests through a Paris-themed kitchen, dining room, and restaurant setting, all inspired by the 2007 Pixar film Ratatouille.
The ride is one of the more recent additions to the France Pavilion and draws consistent crowds.
At the time of the incident, EPCOT was hosting its annual International Flower & Garden Festival, one of the park’s seasonal events that typically increases visitor traffic.
Social media users across the park shared photos and videos of the smoke plume, which could be seen rising above various parts of EPCOT.
Several images show the dark smoke against a clear Florida sky, drawing concern from parkgoers and those following the event online.
Fox35 Orlando cited local officials who confirmed that the fire was brought under control quickly and that there were no reported injuries among guests or staff.
The structure fire was limited to the area behind the ride, and responders were able to prevent the flames from spreading further within the pavilion.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No additional information has been released regarding the extent of the damage or how long the ride will remain closed.
“Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure” officially opened to the public in October 2021 as part of EPCOT’s broader transformation efforts.
The ride utilizes trackless technology and 3D visuals, adding to the immersive experience that has made it popular among families and younger visitors.
The France Pavilion, where the ride is located, is one of eleven country-themed areas in EPCOT’s World Showcase.
The attraction’s addition was part of Disney’s strategy to modernize and expand EPCOT’s offerings with more character-based experiences.
Walt Disney World officials have not yet released a timeline for when the attraction may reopen or if other surrounding areas were affected by the fire.
The park continued regular operations after the incident, though the specific area around the France Pavilion was temporarily restricted as crews ensured the fire was completely contained and safety assessments could be completed.
The investigation into what caused the fire is being handled by local authorities, in coordination with Disney’s internal safety and maintenance teams.
