Nine people were injured, including three children, when a minivan drove into a crowd of pedestrians in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, as reported by The New York Post.

Surveillance footage shared on the Citizen App showed the van barreling through a densely packed crowd and crashing into a structure along the sidewalk.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), the crash left nine people injured. Two of the victims, both 23-year-old women, were “released against medical advice.”

The remaining seven victims included three boys, ages 8, 11, and 17, who were all taken to local hospitals and are in stable condition.

Emergency responders arrived shortly after the incident and transported the victims for further medical evaluation. No fatalities have been reported.

The video footage from the scene shows the van jumping a curb and knocking down several K rails before colliding with the structure. During the crash, part of the structure’s awning fell on top of the vehicle.

Authorities have not yet determined what caused the crash. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is investigating the incident, but at this time, they do not believe the act was intentional. Investigators also said they do not suspect the involvement of drugs or alcohol.

The extent of the damage to the building has not yet been fully assessed. LAPD and city officials continue to review footage and gather witness statements to understand the sequence of events leading up to the collision.

The area around Santee Alley is known for high pedestrian traffic, particularly on weekends. The open-air shopping district draws large crowds and vendors, making the incident especially concerning for city officials managing public safety in high-traffic urban zones.

Authorities are urging any witnesses with video or additional information to come forward as the investigation continues.
