Donald Trump Slams George Clooney’s ‘Puff Piece’ Interview

Donald Trump roasted George Clooney on Truth Social Sunday, calling him a “failed political pundit.”

The president’s harsh words were in response to Clooney’s “60 Minutes” interview that same evening. The famous actor discussed his op-ed in the New York Times about his decision to drop his support for Joe Biden, which was believed to be instrumental in Biden’s decision to step down, opening the door for Kamala Harris to take his place.

Clooney took a shot at Trump, citing the president’s $16 million defamation settlement with ABC News and the $20 billion “voter interference” suit Trump filed against CBS last October in which he accused “60 Minutes” of editing an interview with Kamala Harris, to present her in a more flattering light.

Clooney promoted his new Broadway play, “Good Night, and Good Luck,” which dramatizes the difficulties faced by reporters in pursuit of truth, and drew parallels by taking aim at Trump.

“When the other three estates fail, when the judiciary and the executive and the legislative branches fail us, the fourth estate has to succeed,” he said.

Clooney continued, “ABC has just settled a lawsuit with the Trump administration. And CBS News is in the process … We’re seeing this idea of using government to scare or fine or use corporations – to make journalists smaller.”

The actor doubled down by saying, “governments don’t like the freedom of the press. They never have. And that goes for whether you are a conservative or a liberal or whatever side you’re on. They don’t like the press.”

Trump took to Truth Social to slam the actor.

“Why would the now highly discredited 60 Minutes be doing a total ‘puff piece’ on George Clooney, a second rate movie ‘star,’ and failed political pundit,” Trump wrote.

“He fought hard for Sleepy Joe’s election and then, right after the Debate, dumped him like a dog. Later, I assume under orders from the Obama camp, pushed all out for ‘Kamala,’ only to soon realize that that was not going to work out to well,” he said.

Trump continued, “60 Minutes even fraudulently inserted Fake answers into her disastrous interview, aired just before Election Day, in one of the most embarrassing and dishonest events in broadcast history…And now George Clooney again? Clooney did not respond to Trump’s verbal lashing.
