The Department of Homeland Security is making it easier than ever for those in the United States illegally to self-deport.
A new app, called “CBP Home” seems to have replaced the controversial “CPB One” app used during former President Joe Biden’s administration. The new app features options to help migrants who want to leave the United States, including a “submit intent to depart” section.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem posted about the change on X, accusing the Biden administration of exploiting the previous app to flood the country will illegal aliens.
The Biden Administration exploited the CBP One App to allow more than 1 million aliens to illegally enter the United States. With the launching of the CBP Home App, we are restoring integrity to our immigration system.

“The Biden Administration exploited the CBP One App to allow more than 1 million aliens to illegally enter the United States. With the launching of the CBP Home App, we are restoring integrity to our immigration system,” she posted. “The CBP Home app gives aliens the option to leave now and self deport, so they may still have the opportunity to return legally in the future and live the American dream. If they don’t, we will find them, we will deport them, and they will never return.”
U.S. Customs and Border Protection released a statement on Monday about the app and its functions.
“Today, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announces the public-facing mobile application, CBP Home. The application has a new feature – Intent to Depart – which offers unlawfully present aliens or those aliens whose parole has been revoked an orderly and defined voluntary process to notify the U.S. Government of their intent to depart the United States. This new feature is a necessary tool to comply with the President’s Executive Order 14159, Protecting the American People Against Invasion,” the statement explained.
“CBP Home App strengthens our mission to secure the U.S. border by ensuring lawful entry for travelers and supporting effective enforcement,” said CBP acting commissioner Pete Flores. “The app provides illegal aliens in the United States with a straightforward way to declare their intent to voluntarily depart, offering them the chance to leave before facing harsher consequences. This reinforces our commitment to enforcing U.S. laws and safeguarding national security.”
According to the press release, additional functions include:
- I-94: Apply for and pay for an I-94 up to seven days before arriving in the United States
- Inspection appointments: Request inspections for perishable cargo entering the United States
- Border wait times: Check wait times at the border
- Bus Manifest: Submit a manifest for bus operators
It remains to be seen how many migrants will utilize the self-deport option to avoid being detained and forcefully returned by immigration authorities.
