Devastating Cause Of Death Of ‘Dazed And Confused’ Star Nicky Katt Released

Actor Nicky Katt died by suicide at his home in California on April 8 at the age of 54.

The County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner confirmed the star died by hanging. TMZ’s sources said the “Dazed and Confused” actor’s landlord found his body hanging inside the bedroom of his Los Angeles-area apartment. The landlord reportedly stopped by Katt’s apartment to tell him he needed to make his rent payment approximately a week before he was found deceased. The landlord returned five days later and found the apartment door open.

TMZ’s sources said Katt did not leave a suicide note, adding that the actor had been dead for over a day by the time his body was found.

The circumstances leading up to the star’s death have not been confirmed.

Katt was a recognizable figure on the big screen as well as the small screen, and had many credits to his name.

He starred in numerous Hollywood TV shows and films throughout the ’80s and ’90s.

Some of his most notable television credits include “Monk,” “Law & Order” and “Boston Public,” where he played a standout character, teacher Harry Senate.

Some of Katt’s film credits include “A Time to Kill,” “Sin City,” “School of Rock,” “Boiler Room” and “The Way of the Gun.”

Katt was married to Annie Morse from 1999 to 2001, but their relationship ended in divorce.

Katt’s sister Elise Ravenscroft issued a statement Monday to Deadline.

“He died by suicide after battling with depression—one that he fought bravely but quietly,” she told the outlet.

“This is a pain no family should endure, yet far too many do,” Ravenscroft continued. (RELATED: Celebrities Are Literally Launching Themselves Into Space And It’s Still Boring As Hell)

“Mental illness is real, it is powerful, and it is often invisible. We hope that by sharing this, we can help break the silence and stigma that so often surrounds mental health struggles.”

Funeral details have not been publicly shared.
