Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) may be facing legal consequences following an altercation with a journalist on Capitol Hill, after being questioned about recent public comments she made targeting Elon Musk and Tesla.
The incident occurred Tuesday morning, when Loomer Unleashed correspondent Charles Downs approached Rep. Crockett in a Capitol Hill hallway to ask for clarification on remarks she made during a livestream event hosted by the activist group #TeslaTakedown.
Crockett participated in the livestream on Wednesday, March 20, where she spoke in support of the group’s ongoing campaign targeting Tesla.
Elon Musk Called This Financial News ‘Terrifying’
The group has organized multiple public demonstrations, including protests outside Tesla showrooms and efforts encouraging people to divest from Tesla stock.
Their largest coordinated protest is scheduled for March 29, with over 277 Tesla locations in the U.S. and more than 500 internationally expected to be targeted by activists.
Crockett expressed support for the group’s efforts and tied the March 29 protest date to her own birthday. “I am truly here for very selfish reasons,” Crockett said during the livestream.
“Starting with March 29, it’s my birthday, and all I want to see happen on my birthday is for Elon to be taken down! Yes!”

On Tuesday, Downs attempted to question Crockett about her support for the upcoming protests and her statements about Elon Musk.
As shown in footage shared by Loomer Unleashed, Crockett initially appeared to ignore Downs while speaking with Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN), but the situation escalated as Downs continued pressing for a response.
At the end of the video, Crockett is seen reaching toward Downs’s phone.
According to Downs and Loomer Unleashed, Crockett allegedly tried to take the phone out of his hands.

She also stated that Rep. Burchett, who was present during the altercation, will be listed as a witness in the report.
“This seemingly qualifies as an assault, inadvertent or not,” Loomer reported, adding that she is calling on House Speaker Mike Johnson to take disciplinary action against Crockett, including censure.
As of Tuesday afternoon, there has been no public response from Rep. Crockett or her office regarding the incident.
Capitol Police have not issued a statement.
Crockett has made headlines in recent weeks for a series of controversial public statements, including past comments suggesting Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) needed to be “knocked over the head,” and for mocking Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s disability during a public speech in Los Angeles.

Th Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, has used a wheelchair since 1984 when he was tragically paralyzed in an accident. Today, the unquestioned leader of the Democratic Party, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, mocks him with the insult “Governor Hot Wheels.” https://t.co/2etrTie8LP
