Couple Reportedly Pleads Guilty After Forcibly Tattooing, Removing Flesh From Children

A Texas mother and stepfather pleaded guilty in to forcibly tattooing two children back in 2023, KTRE reported.

Police arrested Megan Farr and Gunner in April 2023 for tattooing their children, ages 9 and five, according to an affidavit obtained by KTRE. One child was tattooed on their foot while the other got a tattoo on their shoulder.

Meagan was charged with unlawful restraint and two counts of injury of a child. She pleaded guilty on Thursday to injuring a child and will be sentenced at a later date, KTRE reported. Gunner faced one count of injury to a child and an unlawful restraint charge. He pleaded guilty on March 19 and was given a sentence of two years’ confinement for a restraint charge. He was also sentenced five years for each of the four counts of bodily injury to a child.

Officials previously said the Farrs restrained the kids with rope, sealed their mouths with tape and covered their eyes with a rag during the tattoo process.

The tattoos were discovered by the children’s biological father and stepmother, and the father confronted Megan about it. the affidavit said. The father said Meagan laughed about the incident and drove off, prompting him to involve Child Protective Services (CPS). The parents attempted to hide the tattoos by scraping, cutting and scrubbing the kids, according to the affidavit. They also tried to remove the ink with lemon juice.

“It appeared that the flesh was removed from the body at the tattoo’s location,” Zavalla Police Department Interim Chief James Denby previously told KTRE. “This happened about the time that CPS got involved.”

“Someone came forward and turned in a tattoo kit that she claimed was loaned to Gunner to perform tattoos. She didn’t know it was going to be performed on a child,” Denby said.

Four children were taken into CPS custody including the two children tattooed, the outlet noted.

“To forcibly hold down your own children and tattoo them, is completely unacceptable and will never be allowed in Angelina County. You have children who couldn’t stand up for themselves, weren’t allowed to fight back,” Angelina County Assistant District Attorney David Griffin said.
