Conspiratorial Dem senator coughs up another doozy about Trump and Musk

Projecting political practices found one Democratic senator dropping quite the claim about what those “doggy boys, the Musk rats” were up to with Social Security.

Then-President Barack Obama’s Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel infamously pulled back the curtain on leftist strategy when he said in 2008 regarding the financial crisis, “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.” Now, as pundits and politicians alike grasp for a narrative to oppose President Donald Trump’s systematic approach to tackling federal bureaucracy, Rhode Island Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D) claims the GOP leader is inventing an emergency for DOGE to tackle.

Joining MSNBC’s Rev. Al Sharpton on his “PoliticsNation” program Saturday, the senator was prompted for a response on disruptors and death threats leading to canceled town halls while claiming it was constituents who were unhappy with what the work of the administration and the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency was doing.

“We’re seeing more and more Americans turning out for community forums, especially in Republican districts, demanding answers about the mass government layoffs and interruptions to vital government services,” said Sharpton. “Do you get the sense that many voters are getting fed up with the chaos being caused by President Trump so far in his second term?”

In response, Whitehouse piggybacked off of his own recent virtual town hall with former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) and began, “Yeah, absolutely. I think polling numbers show it and I think the fact that Republicans can’t go and have a town hall themselves any longer, because they’ve angered their constituents so much, also shows it.”

“People, I think, are fed up with this. And the danger to Social Security, I think, is very real. You know, watch that carefully,” he said before introducing his accusations. “Trump lies and one of his lies is that he won’t touch Social Security. But he sent in Musk and those doggy boys, the Musk rats, to wreck up stuff in Social Security.”

“The former commissioner, [former Maryland] Gov. O’Malley, says that the wreckage that they’re doing will lead to interruptions in benefits,” he continued. “And at that point, [Trump] comes in and says, ‘Oh, look, I broke Social Security. We have an emergency. Let’s fix it. Let’s get the private equity people and the big data people in here to run Social Security.’”

Whitehouse’s claims were not the only accusations being leveled against the work of DOGE as the advisory group tackled spin of recent actions that included a report from the Seattle Times that they were at fault for taking $5,000 out of a man’s bank account under the claim the recipient was “dead.”

“This article is maliciously misleading,” argued DOGE on X. “While the database error is unfortunate, this has zero connection to @DOGE. This type of error unfortunately has occurred regularly (~500 times each month) for years. In the same way that dead people are marked as living, the reverse also happens…As of last week, @DOGE and @SocialSecurity are now working together to increase the accuracy of the ‘Death Master File’ and eliminate these errors, the first ever real attempt to do so.”

Meanwhile, favor for the efforts of the administration and Musk found people referring to the DOGE team as “Musketeers” while reminding everyone that no amount of fearmongering could get around what people were actually experiencing.
