An attempt by “The Daily Show” to mock President Donald Trump and Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) boss Elon Musk didn’t work out quite as expected.
On Thursday the left-wing comedy show released a parody video depicting the White House as a Tesla dealership. The video was designed to mock President Donald Trump’s decision earlier in the week to have Teslas brought to the White House so he could choose one to buy.

As seen above, the parody video, which also featured Tesla owner Musk, advertised the White House as the White House Tesla Auto Mall.
But while the video was no doubt designed to try to mock and make Trump and Musk look bad, Trump supporters and even Musk himself have responded to it with appreciation and glee.
“Thanks for helping sell Teslas!! ” Musk mockingly tweeted late Wednesday.
Others joined Musk in praising/mocking “The Daily Show.”

The Tesla purchase by Trump occurred during a press conference outside the White House on Tuesday.
“Number one, it is a great product- as good as it gets,” Trump said during the presser, describing his reasons for making the purchase. “And number two, because this man [Musk] has devoted his energy and his life to doing this.”
“I think he’s been treated very unfairly by a very small group of people. And I just want people to know that you can’t be penalized for being a patriot. And he’s a great patriot,” he added.

Trump did, however, bemoan the fact that he won’t be able to drive the Tesla he just purchased.
“I’m not allowed to drive because I haven’t driven a car in a long time,” he said. “And I love to drive cars, but I’m gonna have it at the White House, and I’m gonna let my staff use it.”
Trump purchased the Tesla to show support to Musk amid an ongoing boycott and veritable terror campaign against the vehicle manufacturer.
The parody video from “The Daily Show” isn’t the only amusing one making the rounds. So is an old clip from “The Apprentice” that shows Trump uttering a “genuine” laugh.

The fun, heartwarming video managed to impress Trump supporters and haters alike.
“The most redeeming feature about Trump is that he is genuinely extremely funny,” one astonished hater tweeted. “I wish he had just remained goofy popular culture television star instead of destroying the entire Western alliance system.”
