CJ PEARSON: On Behalf Of The Black Community: Shut The Hell Up, Jasmine Crockett

Let’s get one thing straight: Jasmine Crockett isn’t “ghetto.” She’s not from “the streets.” She’s not the hood-savvy voice of the everyday black American struggling to survive in an America that’s failed them. No, Jasmine Crockett is a fraud. And what’s worse? She’s a carefully packaged fraud, hand-picked and propped up by the Democratic Party to sell one of the most insidious lies of all: that this caricature of blackness — loud, ratchet, grammatically incorrect — is somehow authentic.

Let me be clear: the problem isn’t that Jasmine Crockett is educated. I commend that. She went to private school. She went to law school. She founded her own law firm. Good for her. The problem is that she actively hides all of that in order to play a role — a role she believes black America wants to see. Or more accurately, a role the Democratic Party thinks black America wants to see. That’s not empowerment. That’s minstrelsy. WASHINGTON, DC – FEBRUARY 28: Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) speaks during a press conference with other Democratic members of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, and House Judiciary Committee during a break in the closed-door deposition of Hunter Biden, son of U.S. President Joe Biden, in the O’Neill House Office Building on February 28, 2024 in Washington, DC. Every time she opens her mouth, it’s like the Democrats are whispering behind her: “Dance for us. Say it just like that. Be that loud, angry, unpolished stereotype. The black folks will eat it up.” And honestly? It’s insulting. It’s degrading. And it should offend every single one of us.

Democrats didn’t pick Jasmine Crockett because of her policy chops or her legislative acumen. They picked her because she’s willing to perform. They picked her because she’s willing to dumb herself down, put on a synthetic wig, and serve up whatever viral, sass-filled soundbite will make MSNBC producers giggle with glee. Because nothing gets the Democratic donor class more excited than a “ghetto Barbie” they can use to pander to the black vote while avoiding the real work of policy. But Crockett isn’t just offensive because she’s willing to play the part. She’s offensive because she’s not even being herself. Unlike her, I’ve never pretended to be someone I’m not. I don’t switch up my vernacular for Twitter. I don’t morph into some made-for-TV stereotype when the cameras start rolling. I know where I come from — and I’m not ashamed of it. But Jasmine? She knows damn well she didn’t grow up talking like that. She knows she benefited from elite education and opportunity. Yet now, she wants to rail against school choice and talk down to those of us who actually believe in empowering families to choose something better for their kids?

Give me a break.

Jasmine Crockett isn’t a representation of black excellence. She’s a puppet. She’s a political costume. And the strings are being pulled by the same party that once gave us Jim Crow and the KKK. Let that sink in.

The truth is, the Democratic Party doesn’t want articulate, principled, policy-focused black voices. They want performers. They want actors who can play the part, stir the base, and keep black America right where they want us — emotional, uninformed, and easily manipulated.

It’s time to pull the mask off. And Jasmine? You’ve worn yours long enough.
