Elon Musk is set to continue his cost-cutting tour through the federal government with a scheduled visit to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
The meeting was personally arranged by CIA Director John Ratcliffe, who invited Musk to discuss government efficiency, according to Catherine Herridge.

Elon Musk Called This Financial News ‘Terrifying’
Musk, who is currently leading the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has made it his mission to identify and eliminate waste within various federal agencies.

Since its formation in January, DOGE, under Musk’s leadership, has targeted several government entities in a search for inefficiencies with the goal of slashing $1 trillion in federal spending.
The agency has already set its sights on major departments, including the Department of Education, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and even the Pentagon.
The agency has overseen significant budget cuts, including mass firings and offering buyouts to federal employees.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth recently estimated that DOGE had identified approximately $800 million in savings at the Pentagon.

These savings were attributed to the elimination of programs deemed to be a poor use of taxpayer money, including a series of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs within the Navy.
Musk addressed the issue of cost-cutting measures on Fox News, emphasizing the importance of careful consideration before making cuts.
“I do agree that we actually want to be careful in the cuts,” Musk said.
“So, we want to measure twice, if not thrice, and to cut once. And actually, that is our approach.”
Musk’s cost-cutting approach has been met with both praise and criticism.
His recent appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) last month, where he brandished a chrome-plated chainsaw, symbolized his no-nonsense approach to trimming government waste.

However, his aggressive cost-saving tactics have sparked concern among some, including a recent Quinnipiac University poll.
The poll revealed that 60% of registered voters were not supportive of how Musk and DOGE have handled workers employed by the federal government.
Despite mixed reactions to his style, Musk has become a significant figure within the Trump administration.
He has attended cabinet meetings and participated in joint press conferences with the president in the Oval Office.
However, his outspoken nature and controversial comments have raised some concerns among both allies and critics.
One of his recent remarks about Social Security, which he referred to as “the biggest Ponzi scheme of all time” during an appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast, has led some Trump allies to urge the White House to limit Musk’s media appearances.
Musk’s upcoming visit to the CIA is not his first with a U.S. intelligence agency in his pursuit of government efficiency.
Earlier this month, he met with officials from the National Security Agency (NSA) after calling for an overhaul within the agency.
As Musk continues his cost-cutting mission across the federal government, it remains to be seen how his approach will affect the functioning of government agencies and whether his efforts will gain broader support among the American public.
