Chad Baker-Mazara Costs Auburn Massive Rivalry Victory Against Alabama With Incredibly Boneheaded Violence

What a dummy…

There’s no doubt about it that physicality is a part of basketball, but what Auburn Tigers guard Chad Baker-Mazara did Saturday was completely unacceptable.

No. 1 Auburn and No. 7 Alabama squared off for the last time here in the 2024-25 regular season. And while the Tigers and Crimson Tide are known more for their rivalry on the football field, the basketball heat between the two is exactly that … heat. Earlier in the campaign, Auburn earned a victory against Alabama on the road in Tuscaloosa. Then, the Crimson Tide were holding on to a No. 2 ranking. Despite being the road team, the Tigers were able to keep pace with the No. 1-ranked offense of Alabama and went back home with the 94-85 dub.

Saturday brought us round two, and it was just as good as the first one, with Bama catching the victory this time, 93-91, in overtime. Tide guard Mark Sears knocked down a pretty little floater while running into the lane as the clock hit zero to get the win for his team.

With all that being said though, it could have easily been a Tigers victory if Baker-Mazara didn’t miss a quarter of the contest.

While Alabama and Auburn were fighting it out for the rebound, Baker-Mazara was battling against Alabama guard Chris Youngblood. During the process of this, the Auburn guard took things too far, blasting Youngblood in the back of his head with his elbow. He was dished out a Flagrant 2 and ejected from the game.
