Cash-Strapped Hope Not Hate Resorts to Temporary Staff Contracts as Donations Dwindle

Labour-linked campaign group Hope Not Hate appears to be resorting to short-term, fixed-term staff contracts as their donations more than half in just two years. The Hope Not Hate Charitable Trust took just £417,000 in donations and legacies in their most recent year of reporting, according to accounts from October last year. That is in stark contrast to the £715,000 they took the year before, and over half the amount of the year before that when they took over £1 million in donations and legacies. It seems their difficult financial situation is impacting their staff, with recent employees being hired on short, fixed term contracts – some for as little as four months. The group was hiring an Event Administrator to start this month on a four month fixed term contract.  Since November they have also advertised for a researcher, a content officer, and local campaigns organiser – all of which were fixed term contracts. Back in 2024 and 2023, they were hiring for staff in press and communications, campaigns and digital – all of which were advertised as permanent contracts. Hardly the security at work their friends in the Labour party have been promising…
